I saw this little guy at the Salvation Army yesterday, and decided to take him home with me. I've been wanting to try one for a while, but I had been holding out for one with the cooler graphics. These graphics are a little too 70's for me.

I fired it up and it works good. Perhaps I'll have to make a roast or something.....

You'll like cooking with convection. Things like biscuits puff up very nicely, chicken cooked via convection is nice and crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside without being greasy.
It's an all around nice way of cooking!

Stainless Steel

I believe that this model was the first for Farberware. I was told that later they came out with the 'woodgrain' ovens as pictured in danlangdon's first post.

Farberware Ovens Rock!

Guys, do you have any idea what these ovens are worth? For some reason many chefs and many caterers use these ovens and work them to death so they're always looking for them on ebay. I have a friend who was a baker at "The New French Cafe" in Minnesota that still uses hers to make her daily baguettes for her family. She bought a KitchenAid convection oven stove about 10 years ago but decided on the first day that the Farberware oven baked the bread better than her fancy new gas stove's convection oven.

Hey Gary, is that one with the touchpad controls one that you bought new? Is it still made?

Ken,

I bought that oven 'used' on Ebay and love it. I paid about $150 for it(with shipping). I use this oven more than the larger oven in my kitchen(Whirlpool smoothtop).
I believe these types of convections ovens stopped being made in the 90's. The ovens of today are not the same as those made by Farberware back then.
I guess the only way to get one of these ovens is thru Ebay and/or Tag/Estate sales.

I also have the model in the Ebay auction below(T4800). It has a 'broil' setting.

They make the best 'fried' foods without frying. Everything comes out crispy.

Farberware convection oven go for big money on eBay, with the highest prices for MIB units. In addition to cooks/bakers, ceramic craft people use them for curing their clay items.

Fool that I am, saw one at a local thrift last year and gave it a pass, Still not sure if I really "need" one or just want one. Have a nice chrome Farberware toaster/broiler oven, so again really don't need another.

Come on Along

When I catered and in all the years of traveling the food show circuit, I used Farberware Turbo Ovens. They truly are like having a second oven.

Gary, that is the model I was hoping to find, with its pseudo-sine wave. Love that graphic - much better than the cornball disco lettering on mine ;-)

The only thing I am missing is the bottom drip tray. Does anyone know if these are still available?

When Consumer Reports tested convection ovens in the late 70s, the Farberware was the tops. I used one for a few years when I only had one oven. It enabled me to bake two poundcakes at the same time; one in the stove and one in the Farber. The arrangement of the heating element at the top, shielded by a piece of open weave metal, with the fan pulling the air up through the center of the oven to the top and sending the heated air down around the perimeter of the oven was the winning ticket. The air pulled through the tube of the Bundt pan made the cakes rise beautifully. The instruction book actually says that the door can be washed in the dishwasher. Since I never did anything but bake cakes in mine, I only washed the filter once. The instructions about how to reduce the oven temperature for cakes were pretty clear, too. I only had to reread them a few times.
