or in Frnech "Mardi Gras". This year Eastern Orthodox and western Easters are on the same day.

Mardi gras is the insanity where all hell breaks loose before lent (a 40 day period of fasting, prayer introspection and meditation before Easter).

For the western Christians, lent begins on Ash Wednesday. For the Eastern Orthodox Christiians it began on Monday, otherwise known as "Clean Monday" Even those that can't or won't fast for all 40 days generally fast symbolically that day or this week.

In my opinion advertising what one is giving up for lent negated it, but here I go.

I'm giving up toxic parents.
I'm curbing incoming sibling abuse.
I"m rejecting laziness and stupidity (in others) that affects me! LOL.

Actually I'm laughing at the name of this day in that I decided [upon seeing pictues of myself lately] that I don't have permission from the landlord to park or house a blimp in the apartment, so one will be taking extreme measures to lose a few tons (tonnes in metrics). LOL

a ton = 2,000 pounds
a tonne = 1,000 KG

Anyway a roomate from the 80's had a sign on the refrigerator.

"You can't lose weight by talking about it. You have to close your mouth.

And as Contessa a proper southern tranny (the spelling varies according to one's mood) once said "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels"
