Thank you all for the continued suggestions! This is a wonderful discussion!

I received the California Design Den (CDD) 400 TC pillowcases and on a whim while in the warehouse yesterday, purchased Costco's 680 TC California grown pima cotton sheets. The Costco sheets are AMAZING!!! They have a soft substantial feel like the sheets my grandma had when I was a child. And their build quality is very impressive, much better than expensive Italian and Brooklinen percales I've had previously. They are thick and a tad warm but I hope they cool down a little as they are broken in.

Surprisingly, the CDD pillowcases have a similar feel to the pricier Costco sheets but they are a bit thinner and the build quality isn't quite as good. The cotton feels very high quality and overall I couldn't really feel much of a difference between them and the more expensive Costco sheets. I can wholeheartedly recommend CDD and plan to get a set.

I am getting a set of the CDD organic percale pillowcases delivered tomorrow. Looking forward to trying those too. They have envelope enclosures which I prefer.

Finally gave up on modern sheet sets after one fitted sheet ripped right down the center after 6 months or so.

Now I use vintage muslin and switch to percale in the summer. They're not indestructible one muslin fitted sheet was retired after getting threadbare with some small holes but it still didn't tear apart, (I toss and turn a lot).

One problem with vintage sheets is they don't fit well on the deep mattresses sold these days, they were made for when mattresses were 8 or 9 inches.
