Finally gave up on modern sheet sets after one fitted sheet ripped right down the center after 6 months or so.
Now I use vintage muslin and switch to percale in the summer. They're not indestructible one muslin fitted sheet was retired after getting threadbare with some small holes but it still didn't tear apart, (I toss and turn a lot).
One problem with vintage sheets is they don't fit well on the deep mattresses sold these days, they were made for when mattresses were 8 or 9 inches.
