Favourite Commercial washer?

What is your favourite commercial washers? I've used Ipsos, Primus, Wascators and as much as I love them all, I prefer the Electrolux Wascator washers, I love the square door models with the turn to lock door handles.

I've used both the electronic models and the manual pointer models, I like the fact that on the electronic models you have options like Extra Extract- which gives the machine a longer faster spin, and theres an option for gentle wash, which gives the machine a more gentle wash action, and they have Hot, Warm, Cold, Delicate, Perma Press, Quick wash and Heavy Soil.

The Launderette I went to charges £2.40 for a standard machine £3.40 for a green electrolux (bigger) machine (far left near the door) and 5.40 for a jumbo huge machine (great for duvets) and about 3 months worth of laundry.

The Gen 5 machines (square door) appear to be solid mount (90G) machines. If they have the extra spin, it is 2 minutes extra, not faster. The 2 Gen 6 on the end -- I can't tell from the pic if they are the 90G or the 140G machines, or even the 300G model... The yellow machine is the 300G machine, but can't place the generation as we didn't have them here in the States...

For me it was Hoyt 50 pounder. The timer was longer than the wascomats of the 80's era!

My favorite Commercial washer

The Continental-Girbau  built  Speed Queen WX series washer-extractors.(Follow the link to see one)  Aside from that I like the generation-4 Wascomats for coin-ops and the Unimac/Uniwash UW series washer-extractors for high-extract hard mounts.

I like the Ipsos even though they're quite common lol, I of course like the Miele Professional machines and those from Schulthess, there's one @ my work rebranded a JLA6 which has a fun factor attached lol

The only kind of large front loader I have seen in our area are the Wascomat's Junior and Senior machines. The laundry near us has those and the older machines fill up quite nicely with plenty of water. Our mattress pads, comforters and such always come out clean.
The only thing we don't like is that the laundry operator just raised the prices on the Junior machines from $3.00 to $4.00 per load.

I've used Hoyt, Rex and Ipso's. My favorite modern commercial machine would be the Ipso's that have a digital display and do distribution drains. I don't like the ones with the timer/clock that goes around.

My favorite older commerical machines which I have very little memories of were Hoyt washers and some other machines that I loved, they were at the local launderette back in the 90's. I'll attach a picture that I found on google which has the machine i'd like to find out about. Its on the right hand side of the pciture.

What Laundry were you in when you took that photo?
I have seen a laundry with a similar layout to that before, I think?

I also have memory's of coming home from Nottingham Goose Fair (Heading towards Loughborough) and in Nottingham there was a laundrette, opposite an ASDA (Wal*Mart centre) next to a chip shop, and everything, not sure if it is still there though I remember seeing various machines in the past in that laundrette from Wascators in Yellow, to old round door models and some very small washers.
More recently when heading by I saw signs saying - "New Blue machines with Boilwash" I am wondering if you know where that laundry is, if you have been there, and what machines they have these days in it? I think it was an attended laundry too, but you could self serve if you wanted.

From the photo I also observe 4 different models, are they all the same capacity or are they all different capacity's? Do any of them have the high spin? (Door attached to tub, and as it spins, if the load is unbalanced, the door wobbles?) [These kind are my favourite]

you probably were at the Loughbrough Road Launderette, these are all Mainwise Launderettes, they are a chain, this picture was taken at the Rex Launderette at Sherwood Rise

All of the Mainwise Launderettes in Nottingham have Electrolux Wascator Laundry Equipment

The Launderette I took these Photos in have

2x WE71 High Extract electronic small capacity washers (yellow machines)

4x WE75s Standard Extract Washers, (2 mechanical machines with pointer, and 2 electronic machines)

2x 6th Generation Green Machines (cant remember model number) with electronic display and 90 degree wash setting (larger capacity than W75)

2x Huge Wascator Machines in the style of the Electronic W75's but with a huge capacity..

7 x Wascator Gas dryers

Prices are £2.40 for the Yellow WE71/WE75 Machines, £3.40 for the larger Green Machines, and £5.40 for the Giant Machines, the dryers are £1 for 16 minutes.

I see the Gordon Road, West Bridgeford launderette is near a Priory Road, Nottingham -

Would this be the famous "Priory Road" Nottingham from the 1970`s Persil Add where all the housewives in the road where given New Persil to test for a week??

Thanks for getting back to me, very interesting to know Nottingham has Laundrettes ran by the same company, more that can be said here in Leicester, Various laundry's, various types of machines, not all ran by the same people!

I have to admit that I've always been a bit of a fan of Wascomat machines. I have no idea why. Maybe it's just their design I guess.

That and I have a bit of a nostalgic connection to late 1960's vintage White Westinghouse Commercial machines, only because the local laundromat had them.

In the pictures above, the lady smoking the cig, they were Huebsch up here and they lasted forever.. probably installed in the mid 1960's and still running today. Yikes!
