Fellow enthusiasts, please elaborate on this 2 year old Maytag dishwasher

Hello all, I have found our next new dishwasher possibly. My question is regarding the wash system she states that in the description it has the new dual power filtration system but every time I’ve seen that system it has those little thin spray arms and that little contraption at the bottom and this model in the photos is the same style wash system that they came out with in 2015 where it ran all arms at once, is this model the same one that runs everything at once? Judging by the fact it still has the 2015 design, I’d assume so and she’s just wrong on the information. If anyone knows please let me know, I don’t want a dishwasher that alternates spray arms. Overall it’s in mint shape and we are going to look at it tomorrow. I am just curious to know cause she claims it’s the new dual power filtration and I don’t think that is what this model has.

But yeah I thought so, As when they were done with the point voyager series they re-updated the system in like 2015 or so and this is the same generation and wash system that’s in this model that I showed you guys but she was claiming it’s the new dual power filtration and I just wanted to make sure it’s not that because that’s got a ton of recalls on it and it’s just not something I’d prefer but this is very clearly the older better wash system that was updated in 2015 from the pointe voyagers which is actually what we have right now we have a 2009 jet clean but it’s on the fritz because the control board has given out twice and it works sometimes and doesn’t work other times times now, the interior is damaged from calcium and the front handle being plastic is very worn, it’s just time to retire the old girl. She’s been a good machine. I’m looking forward to this new upgrade, this is essentially the exact same dishwasher just with an updated wash system that operates the same still. Hope I've got that correct.

I had a Maytag based on that wash system.  I wasn't very happy with it.  The spray arms didn't seem to reach the corners very well and I could usually count on remaining residue from baked on items.

We’ll see about that. The upper jets are bizarrely angled I thought, and I don’t like how huge the upper arm is it’s the same as the lower one and it irritates me, maybe it can be switched out with the general Whirlpool upper arm that they’ve used on every dishwasher within the last decade almost. Not sure if the feed tube will provide that availability to fit the same.

Correct this model is the 2015 redesign off the point voyager platform. I don’t like the upper arm cause it’s one very flimsy and HUGE, but I’ll get used to it. We just made our purchase and she’s in MINT condition, very excited to live on the Maytag theme. I’m still weary of new appliances, as this is 19 months old and was purchased online they sold cause they were redoing the kitchen, they said they absolutely adored it and it worked perfectly. Everything looks perfect, also I absolutely admire how SIMPLE this model is to clean as far as the sump goes, no tools required unlike my jetclean point voyager! Those choppers are so tedious to replace and make sure are in perfectly. Very curious to see how quiet this model is. Thank you all I’ll update when it’s installed and I’ve cleaned the sump for any possible GUNGA out, lol. Very excited for this I really like it.

I have that exact machine...

and no, the wash arms do not alternate...and yes, it will leave baked on residue...but it's quiet, dries well, and beats hand washing.

If it’s a new machine regardless of the brand, I’d never load anything with chunks or a any solid scraps into it as these new machines don’t have very good filtration or disposing systems. I load my powerclean very differently than I do our Maytag. So we will see how this does from the looks of videos I’ve seen from it washing it looks just as powerful as the one we have the point voyager, I’d find it hard to believe it won’t remove baked on stuff for how long it runs especially with the HI TEMP and sanitize on. So we will see I’ll definitely do some tests with baked on things…just no big chunks of anything cause this model will get plugged easily. I despise how the chopper assembly is directly off the motor underneath…but it’s very nice looking and definitely a step up from our old one. That plastic control panel was terrible…but the motor in it will run forever it’s never had an issue in the 6 years we’ve owned it. Curious to see this models performance and as to why some have had issues with it leaving stuff behind…with these new models you must rinse off the food scraps but sauces peanut butter things like that are usually just fine. Once installed I’ll do a full test. Thank you all for the input on this model, as this was the last of this generation you could buy. I am beginning to actually love the upper arm and how it matches the lower, it’s just so wide but it’s unique and will get the job done just fine and the chrome is beautiful with the stainless interior. Overall I love it but cant say anything about it until it’s first run.

I have never rinsed anything I put in my KA, scrape big stuff off, no rinse.   Everything comes out spotless.  I can count on one hand the number of dishes that had anything on them after the cycle in the 2 years I've had the DW. Modern detergents LIKE food on the dishes and work better when it's there, it is held in place while it dissolves the mess.

What model do you have Matt? Cause this machine nor many others cannot break the larger soils down and they become GUNGA in the sump strainers. All gloves are off when it comes to loading my powerclean, that can handle anything. Some of these new ones just cannot do it without the sump getting filthy, I’ll definitely run my tests with a bad heavily soiled baked on wash with tons of food soils, and I’ll check the traps after the cycle. If it comes out well I think we will be able to load heavier things into it as far as soil is concerned.

I’m a huge fanatic about NO pre rinsing, the machine already does that for you. Which many blind consumers don’t understand. As much as I want to just throw it in after scraping the huge stuff I don’t want all the little tiny pieces becoming gunga in the filtration traps, it’s so easy to happen on these new machines. That’s the only reason I make sure I get the heavy or solid things off. No pre rinsing really just extra scraping is all. It’s hard to describe this because there are millions of different soils. Cause if you don’t your sump will get clogged with these newer units, if it’s not a manual cleaning of course. After a few heavily soiled runs absolutely zero pre rinsing we will see what the traps look like. What you can’t see though is the grinder screen for the chopper, which will accumulate lots GUNGA and it’s brother GUNGALUNGA.
