I always clean the lint filter after each load in my Maytag, and at least once a week clean the entire lint filter under the kitchen faucet.

cant explain it, but in taking my own Neptunes apart, as they have this odd upside down bed of nails type of setup to prevent coins/nails/pins etc from dropping into the sump....

and I have yet to find strands of any sort, even string, wrapped around or build up of any sort....

but yeah, you would expect to find some traces of it after many years of use...

even wrapped around the spider....

I know its passing through as all the drains dump into a screen box before going down the sink drain.....now that is filled with lint and fur...

Years ago when working on a solid tub Rollermatic I discovered why it must have been taken out of service.
I am always suspect of the bellows. So when I went to inspect the bellows I discovered every drain slit in the tub was completely blocked with tiny rectangles of lint, mineral and detergent residue. The throw out must have been interesting. Must have finally thrown something overboard. I had to take a flat head screw driver and knock the plugs out of every drain slit. They must have washed a lot of towels!
