The modification could be fun!
You would be better off to modify the existing wash tub to fit on the old transmission hub, because among other things the old hub also holds down the oil seal.

Here is a link I used when I had issues with oil leak and worn oil seal, this link is of a canadian beaumark washer which internal is the exact thing of a Filter-flo as it was made by them.....
You can easlily understand once basket is removed that you cannot easily fit the stainless basket in those 3 shaft things that hold it with the 3 bolts.....

Well there was guy here time ago who had a filter flo like mine and was about sending it to the scrapper, he was saving parts for the members here, I think now that washer will be already an iron block though......

Well, the speeds (guessing that your one is a 1 speed cluch) and all other functions except for the auto-extra rinse will not work in your model, but if you would like to have a new chromed and black console you may change it, I think you could do that, is all about wiring.....
Not sure if you will have the need to adapt or change anything else then.....

if its just the chrome ends you want changed, that only takes a few minutes.....
you can change over the whole panel, but for now, you won't have two speeds until you install a two speed clutch, and the activation solenoid......easily done
and of course, the water level may have to be adjusted, since the new panel comes from an ExLarge machine, and yours is a standard capacity, but again, easily done...

Actually, I want the whole console changed out if it's not gonna blow my whole budget. I wrote to that guy about the console you mentioned kenmoreguy, but have not heard back. I did however find this kit for 2-speed clutch conversion with new motor, relay and wiring harness. It's $190. Sooooo just gonna remain eye candy for now.

Yes, I have a once speed clutch. And as Yogi's keen eye pointed out to me, this machine is of the standard capacity and would involve a more significant parts changeover from the original XL capacity SpotScrubber.
It is all cherry inside and out and would be a shame to tear it apart. But if I did keep it the panel would have to go to make it more visually appealing to me.

Back when i worked for GE around 1980 the appliances had a shot of green spray paint on the back. Someone told me they called that the "green dot of dependability". I don't see it on these newer machines.

I may be wrong....but that 2 speed conversion that your showing Alex is not for a traditional GE filterflo......hate to see you spend money for something thats not gonna fit/work......
use your SpotScrubber as a comparison of what the 2 speed clutch and solenoid should look like....

What exactly does the Spotscrubber feature do? Is it something to do with the Mini-Basket?

Thanks Yogi for sending me that care package. Thanks to you I now have the correct Filter-Flo pan for this washer. It's a smaller diameter than the Spotscrubber mini basket pan, so you can see more of that extreme rollover action!
**Alert, the seller agreed to my "make offer" price of $20 and I am the official new owner of the 8-Cycle control panel in sexy black. So I gain a few extras built into the timer that aren't activated by additional switches. Kinda cool, like the Auto 2nd rinse in the "extra clean" cycle. Can't wait to try it on.

...This is an odd hose...New Old Stock ..older version of the water return hose complete with attached flume. At. $53.00 it gonna stay on the shelf right where it is.
