Finally an Alliance in the shed...!!

Its taken a while as needed to have the shed extended but I am now the proud owner of a Huesbch dryer thanks to Combo52 for finding spares for it, Have never owned a gas dryer before and to say I should have got one years ago would be an understatement. Along side it there is an IPSO/JLA88 AKA Speed Queen FL it was built to be used on a 25amp circuit but having removed a heater out of the contactor its now happily running on a 13amp plug.. Not many programs but its flexible as you can rapid advance the cycle to what ever part you wish, it also sprays the load from above as it fills to damp it down really quickly and its not too stingy with water either as it fills to the bottom of the door. Its got a date of 2008 inside but had been stored for 5 years with no use, once the pump was unblocked it works like a charm.
Very happy as now have the best of both worlds indoors a Miele W1 and AEG heat pump dryer and these in the shed.

It’s nice that you’ve maxed out the wash times and it has a heater so it can do the best job it can.

But yeah your right, deffo best to have a Euro machine for the heavy soiled and heavy duty loads that need a proper profile wash.

IPSO FL Washer

Great score Austin, now you can wash really big things and loads FAST, you can take in laundry now.

 

I am using a temporary laundry area in my home because I am rebuilding the main laundry area. I am having to limp along with just my SQ FL washers a FD 1-18 and a KM Calypso and one KM gas dryer [ the Calypso match ]

 

I have been waiting more than a month before doing laundry so last night I washed over 30 pairs of jeans, over 20 large bath towels, 30+ tee shirts at least as many pairs of underwear and socks and lots of cleaning cloths from kitchen and bath.

 

Nine loads were done in just over 2 hours and I still had 5 loads waiting for the gas dryer this morning, but there dryer quickly got through these loads in about 30 minutes a load.

 

As a mechanic I get clothing very dirty and even filthy clothing that has sat for upwards of a month get very clean in 30 minute cycles, all 30+ pairs of jeans were washed in the FD 1-18 in water recycled from either the Calypso or the SQ FL washer by saving the concentrated wash water and the first two rinses. In the Calypso the very dirty white socks, cleaning clothes come out sparking with less than 1 cent worth of electricity thanks to good detergent and 1/2 cup of bleach in the dispenser.

 

The new laundry room will have 3 Gas dryers and my LKM gas combo and an additional 4 FL and 4 TL washers, I am going to stack a 24" European FL washer on top of a 1992 Westinghouse FL washer to have one machine for smaller loads, I am not sure whether it will be a Miele or a 20+ YO Bosch, we also have a real Asko [ cold fill only ] and I just picked up 10 of the Italian Electrolux 24" machines from Eugene in Ohio last weekend.

Can someone help me sort the spin issues

I have noticed more often than not the machine has refused to spin it does its short spin bursts but refuses to do the fast spin at the end of the cycle. Now depending on what its washed I either separate it all and spin in a spin dryer or let the machine have another go! But its becoming more choosy on if it will spin or not.
I know there is a OOB switch on the support leg but can that be the issue and if so will a new one sort the problem?

Googled your question and found this servicemanual. Maybe this can help you to solve your problem.

While talking, I was looking at this washer but could not get my head around if it was in any way programmable like most OPL machines are. Can you tweak parameters or store more programs behind the buttons or not? Like a max temp of 95°C, a self written program....

You can change the wash and rinse times and make the cycles longer and shorter but sadly I have not found out how to alter anything else, From what I read somewhere it depends on what programmer is fitted in it the one I have is a basic nursing home model it works for what I want apart from failing to spin lol

The inverter control uses a speed sensor on the motor to measure the drum RPM. Before entering any spin step the inverter control measures the RPM of the drum to sense out-of-balance. The inverter control will try to redistribute the clothes if an out-of-balance condition exists the inverter control will limit the spin speed to several speeds depending on the severity of the out-of-balance condition. If the out-of-balance condition is severe enough the inverter control will limit speed to 90 RPM and will not spin.
NOTE: An additional out-of-balance switch is used to detect any out-of-balance condition during spins. If this switch opens during a spin step, the inverter control immediately stops and then restarts the spin.

So it would appear that I cannot change or repair anything to make it spin better ???? Darn.

Non Spinning SQ FLWasher

Hi Austin, The machine may have a break in the wires that go to the Out of balance switch, this was a common problem and easy to fix.
