Pics to follow soon....But now I am getting ready for my partners 50th birthday bash and have no time. They are the exact Frigidaire 1-18 pair in avocado as in archived thread #39972 but in MINTY condition, having belonged to an old couple in their summer home. The washer works and sounds like it should in every way. The only issue is with this set is with the dryer, it works great but has a steady squeak which is not terrible but is definitely there and will have to be addressed. My question is is this likely to be a roller around the edge in back of the drum or a center bearing on the center of the drum and how likely and where will I locate parts? Please don't tell me what a pain in the behind it is gonna be to fix, I can already imagine.....But nevertheless I am thrilled to have found them! A lifetime dream come true..

Let's see some pictures of them!  I think the only thing you need to do with that dryer is clean the insides out and run it good.  They will squeak a bit when they've been setting for a while.  Time and heat should take care of it, that's been the case in my experiences.

The squeak

Did lessen when i ran it for half an hour, hopefully when I begin to use it more it will heal itself. I will let you all know.I will most definetly put up detailed pics as soon as I Have a few spare moments during the upcoming week.

rollers

My 1-18 set had relatively new rollers, but the previous owner said he replaced them almost every 2 years thoughout the life of the dryer. These are the recent Almond ones you referenced. His was an upstairs installation next to the bedrooms, maybe he was too picky? Mine squeak for the first few minutes is all, and I don't care much since it's the basement and always another machine washing nosily at the same time. But yes I have heard the rollers are the weak point, but easily Ebay available. And you gotta get into any dryer somewhat routinely to de-lint for safety, so not a big issue to replace rollers every few years to keep a Favorite running.

Happy 1-18's, they are cool as hell for sure.

What year do you think these were made?

I will put model#s on later but I can tell you that the washer has the lid safety switch in the back and not to the left and it has the non-toothed lint basket.

Great find!

It looks like your washer was made in 1978 and the dryer 1977. Year of manufacture is the first number of the serial number.

The pair look to be in very nice condition. I too have an avocado pair and the shade changes based on the light of day and the wall color. My laundry room is painted a medium olive green and it makes the avocado look more like sage green.

Enjoy!

Congrats on a fun set, Frigidaire had a very nice avocado green. I have the same washer you just found, in gold, and it's a very fine machine. There must be luck in the 1-18 dryer hunting for some, I've only ever seen one in my travels that was so rusted at the bottom it wasn't worth even wiggling through the staircase to bring home.

Enjoy!
