I just pulled the trigger and got this one today since it wasn't super expensive, complete, working, and fairly close to me. I think it's a model 92. I've never seen a drain hose end like this one has. Are the holes on the back side of the wringer for bolts? It's older than my other 2 electric ones I have. I didn't know these had metal wheels either.

He also had a very nice model 30 I may pick up and a can of Maytag oil. I also noticed a twin cylinder Maytag engine hooked up to some kind of pump he was also selling. But overall I'm happy with it and I look forward to restoring all these machines. :)

One more thing

I forgot to mention he threw in an extra gyrator/agitator but he didn't know what model it went to since it's too tall. Any ideas what Maytag it goes to?

really cool!

those are quite common at my local threshing bee-usually about 4 operating washers and around 15 of the little two-stroke engines-amazed they don't foul the spark plugs as they ooze oil out the exhaust:) Sometimes earlier style maytag engines show up-the ones with the iron flywheel that has four fan blades as the spokes,i think this early design is from the 'teens.

The holes are for a clothes guild. I believe it was suppost to be a safety feature but really just got in the way so most women just took it off. Later models didn't have them. We have several machines that we take to shows, All gas powered, I am working on one now to put the butter churn attachment on so we can churn butter and pass out samples. The 2 cylinder engine is not as strong so Maytag made up for it by changing the pulley size. If you have 2 washers next to each other the twin cylinder washes slower.

Very interesting

Clothes guild eh?I will have to look that up. I didn't know the twin cylinders were not stronger..you would think 2 would be better than 1 lol.

I just found out about the butter churn attachment recently. I knew about the meat grinder but the butter churn sounds really cool.

What is the actual grey color ( or closest you can get) for these maytags? I think all of mine are supposed to be the grey color, though the leafy green color does look nice too. Hopefully I can fix my washers up and rebuild this little gas engine too. :)
