Hey everyone. I think this should go in the off topics section since since it's not about any one specific appliance. Even though I'm more into vacuums, you all have been so kind to me here when I've had questions about my portable dishwasher or all in one portable laundry processor and I really appreciate that.

I've had my Edgestar CW1200 portable washer/dryer for about 2 years now, but I've still been using the laundry room at the apartment complex. The reason is because I don't want to leave it in the living room or kitchen, and I don't want to tie up my kitchen sink for SEVERAL hours at a time (especially since the dishwasher uses that too)... so a friend of mine put some longer hoses on it and now I can keep the appliance in my walk in closet and just reach the hoses to the bathroom and use it in there. It's almost like I have a laundry room in the closet and I'm loving it. It's not in the way and doesn't tie up the kitchen sink, and the helicopter sounding spin cycle is muffled so I can even sleep with it going!

Anyway, I was just wondering if any of you can think of any problems using a set up like this... the hoses are probably 12 feet long for drain and fill. The only thing I can think of is possible leaks, and I don't leave with it going just in case something should start to leak. I also wondered if taking it off the wheels would reduce the vibration since it's now a permanent spot... anyone have any ideas about that? I thought about making a video of the set up and the wash action now that I have a tolerable digital camera that isn't my cell phone!

thanks

Pump May Not Like It

Most all washing machine's owner's manuals or specs will give the max height and run for drain hoses. Miele for instance sells a second pump to use for it's washers if the run is above 6ft and longer than normal.

Other than the above, see nothing wrong with your arrangement.

Many friends who have portable washing machines that will not fit all the way into their kitchens and or near the sink, have run long drain and fill hoses. Again the worst that can happen is one my cause more strain on the pump and thus cause it to go sooner than it should.

Good to know. Actually, if the pump goes out it will give me an excuse to upgrade to a new LG model! They are all electronic with pretty chimes and lights and have a much larger capacity than mine. The company that made my for Edgestar is no longer in business according to Edgestar, so finding replacement parts will be hard. However, I can buy the push button that is missing for my unit for "only" 15 bucks (with shipping)... just have to decide if it bothers me enough to pay that much!

Terry, it is on locking casters, but the casters are on a dolly so I could just remove the dolly, but it's 200 pounds so I don't want to go through all of that if it's not going to reduce the noise!

Thanks
