and that's not all, an unexpected surprise upon opening of the trademark(not a safety switch in sight) LH hinged lid:

They didn't forget to include the wack-o Rube Goldberg pre-Silhouette Hotpoint detergent dispenser/lint filter thingy!!!!!!

and the control panel is in my all-time favorite colors, turquoise and blue! Oh somebody light a cigarette for me.

did I mention it's a 2 speeder?

When I saw the tiny picture on Craig's list, I was sure it was a BOL, but when it arrived, I noticed this:

The owner said that it belonged to an older male professor, who, I'm judging by the condition of the lid bumpers, didn't use it an awful lot.

Of course it's the first washer that I'm going to have to rake before using,

but after i pick up all the dead leaves, I'm going to attach a new drain hose to the pump (the bottom of the machine is quite shiny and clean), follow AW members' advice and fill it with hot water, probably some Mexican phosphate detergent and then let 'er rip. Will let y'all know what happens. Look at the measuring guide on the dispenser! Yeah, I'll use two cups.

Wow Ken that is simply beautiful, solid basket Hotpoints are some of the coolest and rarest vintage automatics around. Funny my Co-Axial Hotpoint is also a 1962 model, but it has a red control panel.
