I'm thinking about picking these up when I go grocery shopping today. I've read good things about both variants on Finish's line. One is a powder that is added to the prewash cup, the other is a liquid that is added to the rinse aid dispenser. Both have excellent reviews on the company website and on Amazon. Does anyone have any experience with these?

I've concluded that while our water isn't terrible, it's still pretty hard. I've tried contacting our water department and researching online, and I can't get a pinpoint answer on the exact hardness, but from the looks of our faucet fixtures and that slight gritty feeling on our plastics from time to time, it can't be the greatest quality. I've been using standard Jet Dry and I think it does well, but it can't hurt to try the booster if it acts as both a rinse aid and also helps break up any detergent and scale residue.

Don't get me wrong, both the PowerClean and the Voyager-Maytag get things sparkling, and glassware is always spotless, but water quality can hinder even the greatest dishwasher, and I'd like to see if it makes a difference with the plastic interiors. I think how smoothly the racks slide in and out will be one of the deciding factors as well.

About 2 mo. ago I noticed a slight brown film on the back sides of my white Corelle dishes. I had been using Finish Powerball Quantum paks and was very satisfied with how they cleaned. Anyway, I did a Google search for this brown film and found that hard water can cause this to happen. They had several remedies to suggest, one being Finish Hard Water Booster. This made sense to me as we have very hard water here. I bought some and ran a load with all of our Corelle. This stuff works like dynamite! It got every bit of the film off the Corelle. I now use it about every 3rd load as maintanance. I believe that it is really just citric acid crystals. I found that I can purchase citric acid at my local organic grocery store for less than the Finish Product, so I may give this a try when the Finish product runs out. BTW this also gets the film off the liner of the dishwasher. Curiously, one post even suggested using Tang, which has alot of citric acid in it.

I've been adding STPP to my dishwasher detergent. Seems to be doing a good job! It's probably a similar effect as the commercial additive.
