My 1974 A407 power light over the dial stays mostly off but sometimes gets in a tizzy and starts blinking like crazy at times instead of being the steady on mode it was meant to be when the dial is in the ON position. Its just a simple neon bulb with a resistor. Im thinking its the resistor giving the trouble. Can I just bypass it? I saved the light from my 1964 A500 but its different and wont work.

I agree that it's probably the lamp itself, but both items can be found on line.  Replacement likely requires a soldering gun, but it's not a huge deal.  I've replaced indicator lamps on coffee makers and most recently on the door of my upright freezer.
