Does anyone own one of these beasts or have experience with them? I remember several of these coming in to the big appliance store as trade-ins. As I recall, most of them worked just fine. The banana ripening bin at the bottom of the freezer door (where it was very warm from the compressor) was a nice touch, and the dispenser above that which held a roll of freezer wrap was nicer still. I also remember trying to move these...absolutely the heaviest appliance I can remember.

That fridge is just plain awesome. I want one for the house that I'm trying to buy. I know a guy who has one that needs restoration and I just e-mailed him to see if he will sell it. I don't really expect him to but I thought I would ask.

another sad story...

Granted I didn't see a ton of them, but regardless of their condition Foodaramas were never put on the reconditioned sales floor, one of the few refrigerators that weren't allowed (gas Servels, Monitor Tops, anything that didn't use Freon were a few more.) In the mid 60's the Foodarama was too small inside for the amount of room it took up. People wanted "big" like the huge 30 cubic foot Admiral Duplex. All the Foodaramas went on the scrap guy's cattle-like truck.

For what its worth don`t give up , There has got to be a few survivors out there somewhere .

BTW - That is one cool Refrigerator !!!!

been there,done that.

When I lived in Ft Lauderdale,FL.,I found a 1957 model and a friend needed it for their beer and wine. I think it may still be there. It was a yellow color.
