The owner claims that it's a 1961. He says the outer tub has a rust hole in it. I don't see too many old machines for sale around here, so I am thinking about getting it. What do you guys think? Is it worth while, or is it just a big rusty piece of Swiss cheese?

That is NOT BOL. I'd say good Middle of Line if not upper middle of line. 2 speed; 5 wash/rinse temp bomsos; water level; regualr and short cycles. 2 speeds weren't all that common in the GE line back then. I wouldn't let it go to the dump just yet.

I'd save it!!!

even just transfer the control panel/top to a newer base/body

just for the nostalgia of it

my mother had a V12...which I considered BOL...one wash cycle, one speed, hot or warm wash..all warm rinse, and 2 water levels.....that machine would never break down...dag gone it!!!

DEFINITELY SAVE

This is a great old machine and can definitely be fixed. GE's go forever if you just take good care of them! Please get it and i'm certain the ge lovers of this site will help you restore it

It is an MOL

It's somewhere between the WA750V(a dream machine) and the single speed WA650V. It's also one of the first V-12's and I have considered it although it is so far away from me that I'd have to pay a small fortune for shipping. I would have sprung for it a year ago when it first came up, except for the fact that it's missing its original control dial(although this one dates from an X series machine from 1963(how'd they break that?) and it's missing its original control dial knob. The V series had remarkable and colorful control dials; most of them illuminated and most of them marked with bright blues and reds. I'd like to see some money shots on this one as well. Had it been on the East coast, I would have snapped it up in a second.

The model numbers on this illustration are just a guess.

Save it. That is NOT a BOL machine. The BOLs did not have the separate short cycle. Even some of the single speed models had the short/delicate cycle.

I wish it wasn't so rough. I just don't foresee having the time in the near future to devote to this machine. If anyone else is interested, let me know and I can get you in contact with the seller.
