All...

Since the discussion was had briefly this past weekend about the availability of Fresh Start detergent, I checked the shelves of one of my local Harris Teeter stores yesterday on my way home. There were still four or five bottles, and it's on a huge discount at the moment.

BUT, I noticed that it was made by Colgate Polmolive, and I had just heard that they got out of the laundry detergent market recently. I checked their website - no mention of laundry detergents.

Phoenix Brands has taken over some of CP's old brand names such as FAB, Dynamo, and the Ajax line of laundry (not dish detgents though), but I see no mention of Phoenix taking over Fresh Start, at least not yet.

So, if you want Fresh Start, in the most recent formula, you may want to look into getting it now. Looks like most of the CP brands are on special to get them out of HT stores.

FYI everyone!

Fresh Start

isn't going anywhere, according to Phoenix Brands.

Phoenix Brands does indeed own those brands, but Colgate-Palmolive STILL manufactures them for Phoenix Brands.
Colgate-Palmolive just needed to get those brands off their books. The formula's have not and won't change according to Phoenix Brands, other than new packing and converting to the new 2x formula's. If you haven't seen the new packaging for Dynamo, Fab,Ajax and Fresh Start, you should soon. They are already here in Florida.

Fresh Start

as many of you know, is one of my favorite detergents. Although, not the same detergent it was back in the 70's( no phosphates), it still does a great job cleaning.Fresh Start has a pleasant "vintage" detergent scent and works AWESOME in any HE or Front Load machine.
Phoenix Brands should really market it as an HE compatible detergent, at a price of $3.99 a bottle, you can't go wrong!

I don't think Colgate has actually manufactured the detergents for a while. I know the Ajax products were manufactured by Huish Detergents (out of Salt Lake City) who also manufactures the Surf products for Lever. Not sure if Colgate themselves manufactured Fab and Fresh Start.

Either way, it looks like Phoenix Brands isn't making the Fab and Fresh Start powders available here in the Northeast. They are still available at "buyitbythecase.com", but the shipping is more than the cost of the products.

"I know the Ajax products were manufactured by Huish Detergents"

Just curious, but how do you know this?

should an email campaign be started to get Fresh Start back on the shelves - or at least from a reputable online retailer?

(would it even matter - I recently email snuggle to express how much better their original scent was, compared to their new fruity varieties. They pretty much told me my opinion did not matter since they did pre-production polling. LOL)

Wow, Fresh Start hasn't been available here for years. It was always my favorite. I would love for someone local to carry it.

Okay - so I just got back from Wal-Mart... I smelled the new version of Dynamo. To me, it smells like Fresh Start but its a liquid.

On the Huish website, there is a section talking about products they manufacture for other companies and when you to to that section, one of the pictures is of Ajax Detergent - not sure if Surf is still shown there as well.

I bought two 44-load bottles of Fresh Start yesterday on my way home from work. HT had it on sale for $4.49. I will give one to my mother this weekend - neither of us have used it in 15-20 years I'd bet.

I can ship some to anyone who wants to do that - just let me know!

Fresh Start in Memphis

Our USA Drug carries it here in Arkansas. Your might try the SuperD full line stores in Memphis. They are the same company. I think here the Fresh Start is 3.99 a bottle.

Fresh Start Availability

I have just explored the phoenixbrandsllc.com Website for myself, but could not find any mention of Fresh Start, nor did CP give any mention, neither did a general Web Search turn up any direct manufacturing of Fresh Start. Therefore, I'm wondering if we are stuck with getting any leftover Fresh Start before it becomes extinct altogether.--Laundry Shark

I think it will come back with Phoenix brands...

I went to their site yesterday....you're right, it doesn't say anything about Fresh Start which is why I posted the thread. However, I called their toll-free number that is displayed under the "contact us" tab, and their recording mentioned "Fab, Ajax, blah blah blah, and Fresh Start" so if it's not on the shelves as Phoenix brand yet, it sounds like it will be.

My hypothesis on this is that they're waiting for the old C/P labeled stock to sell-off before they begin marketing it as a Phoenix, OR it's just not ready to market yet.

Fresh Start~

Phoenix Brands, Fresh Start is here in Florida also....
I wonder why it is not mentioned on the Phoenix Brands website??
