This house is around the corner from us and I've always admired it in Leave It To Beaver or Father Knows Best kinda way. The widow owner died a couple of months ago and it's now on the market. I admire it but it's certainly not the style of house I would want to live in, too traditional for my taste. Other than the kitchen redo it looks probably like it did when it was built in the late 50's . Boy that's a lotta wallpaper and I love the rec room floor with the tile shuffleboard.. tres 50's

you have to click on the pictures to move to the next one.. kind of an odd way of displaying them.

Code Blue, Code Blue, Dining Room STAT!

What's with that dormitory bedroom with the through the wall air conditioner? 4 double beds? Was it some sort of orgy room that needed extra cooling?

Lots of heavy textiles; that bathroom looks like a candidate for mildew control with all of the shower drapery. Maybe they were in the fabric business.

Is that a fountain in the back by the terrace? Trevi it's not, but it looks big for a house like that.

Lots of expensive appointments, though like the tile work etc.

okay tomturbomatic

I've just had to explain to my coworkers in the office next to mine what I'm cracking up about the "orgy room" laid me out across my desk...thanks for getting my day started with a laugh. I hope the family is not expecting top dollar for the home..first impressions...well it would make me puke..I'm not sure if I was a home buyer I'd even be able to walk through the entire house with that mess on the walls. Speaking from experience..when I bourght my 1924 craftsman there was floral wall paper every where..in fact there was paper in places I have never thought could be papered. It took several weeks to get the crap down...I'm not sure what product was used to hang the wall paper in the kitchen but I could not get the glue off the plaster so I had to texture the walls and then paint. Needless to say...I'm not a fan of wall paper or borders!!!!

That first bath or half bath must be right off the bar because it sure channels traffic to the throne; so handy if you had to hurl or do a really quick drain the vein procedure in a slightly impaired state. The red valance is like an emergency sign directing you to where you need to be.

I wonder if that dorm-style bedroom was the only room that was air conditioned. I see baseboard hydronic heat in some of the rooms and no vents for AC. Maybe everyone could sleep in comfort in the dorm during hot weather?

I wonder if they would sell it furnished? It might be easier to live in it like a movie set rather than have to redo all of the wall & window treatments to go with sane furnishings. The blue tablecloth absolutely has to go though. Any guesses as to where the wall ovens are in the kitchen? Any ideas about what kind of washer that is at the end of the shuffle bored court?

I don't think that was June!

Mrs. Cleaver had much better taste.

The bed on the left in the "dorm" looks like a roll-away to me. Who knows WHAT went on in that room?

I'm just itching for an open-house but it's been about 3 weeks since the for sale sign went up and they haven't had one. My friend Brad and his partner live in the house next door, slightly visible in one of the pics and there's been a lot of people going thru it with their agents so they say, I'd have thought it would sell within days but no. It's priced right for the neighborhood, in fact I thought it was priced a little low. Houses in our little enclave usually sell easily within 2 weeks or less so perhaps there's some issues, like wallpaper lol.. It does have hydronic heating, that could put some people off because of the high cost of installing some sort of a/c. As well all the outside siding is real wood which means it needs to be painted every few years, that could turn some people off, the maintenance cost or having to reside it with vinyl. That bunk room is really odd with all the beds...to my knowledge they only had 3 children now my age or older. One girl and a couple of boys I think. That's a waterfall type fountain in the back. It actually looks quite nice in real life. The house sits on a corner lot so the backyard is all open to the street when I walk by with the dogs. I'd have had hedges planted toute suite if it was my place.

The wall treatment in the master bedroom looks like the screen in a slot machine where all of the little symbols are spinning past. If it is on all 4 walls, it could give you a bilious attack each time you opened your eyes.

It's a lovely homey home.

It looks warm, tasteful and welcoming. Wallpaper has become so expensive that one has to be pretty cashed up now to do up an entire house. I like their taste in furniture too. The only out of place thing is that front loader next to the rec. room that is just screaming to be put out kerbside, but there is a place where my seven special friends can sleep together.
