I had such a nice surprise in the mail today, a package from Greg with Several new detergents to try out. I loved the smell when I opened the box!! As soon as I try the Mega-Pearls I will let you all know. Thanks again Greg. Terry

Peekaboo! Is it safe? It's me again...

Yes, that is Dixan alright, although I can't remember that particular design of the box. My memories are from later times. My mother used it in her Bosch frontloader and I still remember the smell that came from the detergent dispenser on top of the machine. Lots of steam when she did whites.

When I was 10 or perhaps a little older there was a TV commercial with a housewife singing the praise of Dixan. I still remembers the first two lines of the song:

"Ik heb een man een zoon en een hond.
Fijngoed, witgoed, rood blauw en bont".

Translated: I have a husband, a son and a dog.
Delicates, whites, reds blues and mixed colors.

I wanted to be that woman, I wanted that husband and that dog too! Wasn't too sure about the son though. LOL And ofcourse I wanted to be the one doing the laundry!!!!

Fond memories!

Madame Kurva

The screenname is as English as can be! It is actually "for Aloyius". Aloysius after the teddybear in the series "Brideshead Revisited". When I went on the internet in 1997 I wanted an emailaddress with Aloysius in it. Unfortunately it was already taken. I just added "for" which means not only literally "for" but also "dedicated to".

AHA..see I am not totally crazy..
I have found it on the web spelled "Aloyisius" and "Aloysius"

In Greek, "OY" is the upper case of "Ou" which is pronounced as follows:

tou (gr.)=> "Two" (Eng.)

So the pronunciation works for me on some level.
But I'm sticking to my story, it is STILL awkward in English..

so there!
And I support Greg in his opinion ..you ARE her!
