I traveled on business to Ireland for about a month in 1996. While at the company, on a tea break, two of my Irish co-workers were discussing another worker's new car.
"It has the big motor - the 2 liter" he said.
I smiled to myself but (probably wisely) kept my mouth shut. What I wanted to say was, "Two liters? That's considered a small motor in the US." But I figure they probably already knew that. On the other hand, that Irish car with the 2 liter motor probably handled better than most American cars made that year.
