Not the prettiest Hoover, rather ugly but it's in very good condition. Again I couldn't believe how full the bag was I picked it up in the store. It's a Canadian model 1012, snaps on the bag.
does that plain-Jane Convertible have a one-piece handle??? it looks soo stripped and plain. maybe someone can offer a pic of the American version for use to compare?
Here is a photo of our version of the 1012 called the model 1010 Convertible. It had the word Convertible etched into the hood and the American version has the two piece handle for packing the machine all into one box. Our 1010 also has the snap close bag. This was one of the cheaper models but still retained the It beats as it sweeps as it cleans feature! This was the first time that a new hood was introduced to change the same basic package that debuted in late 1957. Our 1010 was built from 1967 to 1968 and replaced by a very similar 1020. The Canadian model 1012 was built from 1967 until August 1971. Great machines...thanks for the picture!
I'm glad you posted that pic because I noticed that your plain jane doesn't have rubber tips on the foot levers either. I thought mine might be missing.
Awesome finds Pete...love that 1012! It was a shock at first to see the "Convertible" missing from the hood!
Jeff, great machines as always! Did Hoover begin adding rubber pedal covers with the 1020? Mine has the narrow pedals with the "ribbed" covers, instead of the wider pedals with the smooth rubber covers.
Austin,
When Hoover went to the 4 position models all Convertibles had booties on their pedals.
The ribbed are models made after July 1969.
Thanks for the nice words
jeff
Jeff wow what a beautiful Hoover vacumn collection !!! i have a few old hoover convertibles just starting a collection they are getting hard to find seems like you have a wide array of models the search an find is the fun part!!! John
Pete's model is made by Regina, thats their Electrik-Broom.
back in the 60's and 70's that Broom was the standard, well made and a good performer.
I've had a few come and go over the years, they swept bare floors very well, and were fairly user friendly too.
