Was driving down the road today and there was a very nice looking Maytag washer and a Magic Chef dryer sitting in the trash. So we went back and got the van and picked them up. My cousin was going to sell them for scrap metal. but I told him I wanted to play with the washer a bit.

It's not the center dial style, It has only cold rinse, and three levels. It runs great! Very quite. Rather small tub, and I noticed there is no neutral drain as I am used to with my Kenmores. Might run a few loads through it to see how well it cleans, only no hot water in the garage. What it the trick to see it operate with the lid open? Used a paint scraper but it was awkward.

Hate to see it trashed. This is the first Maytag I've had any experience with, might keep it and play with it for a while. I wonder what it's worth to sell as a working machine? More than scrap metal I hope?

?? Should be! Is the dial on the right, like a 10 series?

209 is a small tub. A tall tub will fit in there!

Clean the filter first......if you can even pull it out (most owners are oblivious about the filter).

If it works fine with no leaks, at least $50.

Clothes pin, ruler, whatever fits back there.

From the serial number it indicated '81, but it has the brown faceplate with the timer to the right and two vertical rows of push buttons from the more recent models. Says Fabric-Matic on the lower left side of the panel, and has 3 cycles, Regular, Permanent Press and Delicate. The tub is small and dark (blue?? gray??) and the agitator is Turquoise.

Lint filter was quite clean, just a little lint. Is the center well used for softener? Looks like it was well cared for, clean and nice looking. We might have put a few dings in it loading it, thinking it was trash.

AMAZING! Most filters are so gooped up with decades of trash that one nearly ends up destroying the agitator just trying to remove the filter.

Is the center well used for softener?
