Found Kenmore Calypso

I found this Kenmore Elite Calypso curbside monday morning. I tought it would be fun to take it and play around with it. I took it all apart and cleaned up the crud in the outer tub which was gross!!

I put it all back together and gave it a test run. So far it seems to work ok. I discovered it won't do anything with the lid up so I popped the top to watch it work.

all back together! I was surprised how easy this washer was to take apart.

Be aware that service specifications require the u-joint seals be replaced *every time* it's disassembled -- the pink o-ring atop the basket hub under the u-joint (if the u-joint is pulled), and the six grommets atop the u-joint under the inner dome.

The lid switch can be bypassed by tapping a jumper across the connection block. I added a Toggleswitch® to one of mine. Toggle On, lid switch bypassed. Toggle Off, lid switch works normally. The lid switch must be opened at the end of a cycle (or the power cord unplugged) to reset it for another cycle, adding the Toggleswitch® faciliates that operation.

Hi, thanks for the compliments! It was quite dirty when I found it but turns out to be in excellent mechanical condition. I spent several hours cleaning it to make it look and smell good. It is a fun machine to play around with and I like how its sooooo quiet!!

Wow!!! that machine looks awesome!! How did you ever find such a beautiful Calypso washer on the curb. I have one just like it I bought the set in the graphite color. I love how it washes I have been looking for another set on ebay and craigslist but they are all so far away. You really scored with that find Congrats!!!

....and just wait until you do some real laundry in it...you'll be quite surprised at how it cleans, how much it holds, and how quietly it washes, too.
