So, I came across this today at my favorite East Coast junk store, National Wholesale Liquidators. No idea where it came from (the bottle mentions both Thailand and the Netherlands). I picked up three bottles; two of the smaller ones, and a larger one in a white bottle, with a separate rubber measuring cup in the middle of the bottle.

It has a lovely fragrance...similar to that of D&G Light Blue for men. Not sure of its cleansing prowess, but I’m game to find out. They also had huge jugs and boxes of Ariel.

Check the dosage instructions; usually with Lever detergents these days, is via the flexible dosing ball, placed directly in the machine's drum. They're more like a gel consistency. They don't flow very well if dosed in the drawer.

I don't know the formulations, but assuming your OMO in the white bottle is similar to UK Persil, 'Which?' a few years ago, gave UK Persil liquid (with the rubbery dosing device) a high score for cleaning ability.

I bought OMO in powder form years ago here in Brooklyn. It was made in Brazil. I can't recall on it's effectiveness, but I do remember I loved the fragrance. I was going to buy more but they brought it again. We have a few National Wholesale Liquidators here as well. Haven't been in years. Definitely going to pay a visit now.
 
National Wholesaler Liquidators used to be on Broadway in Greenwich Village just down from J&R Music World, Antique Boutique... Such fun!

After hitting 8th street would swing down Bway and stop at them all. NWL never failed... Sometimes would just go directly there for a browse and always left with something.

They would have tons of laundry detergents and other products from Canada (with French packaging), and other goodies. Got some wonderful lemon scented detergent there once....

Am going to have to take a drive out to Brooklyn and check out NWL, on way back can stop at Wegman's ....

NWL is a gem of a store! Whenever I go there, they always have a new detergent surprise! I’ve seen Mexican Persil, Tide and Ariel powders from India, Ace powdered detergent...ahhh. I wish they had more locations!
 
I miss the NWL that was in Bergen county.

Yeah, a major disappointment when the Lodi store closed. That was a prime location and always busy.

They could have done a booming business during the shut down, right next to a Home Depot and along Rt. 80, sheesh.
 
I remember...

...when they were all over the place. There was one near my home in Edison, and when I moved to Cherry Hill, there was one there, too.

I guess Ollie’s is similar, but I can take or leave them.

The last time I was at Ocean State Job Lot, the selection was a resounding “meh”. They had Polish Woolite in various colors (apparently, some versions are sold in other countries as a bona fide laundry detergent, rather than a wool and fine fabric wash), but that was about it. Everything else was stuff you could find in your local supermarket.
 
Darryl found the powder version at the dollar store some weeks ago.

I had the stupid idea to try it in the Calypso before anything else (and I am from Brazil and I grew up knowing that Omo was always a SUDS BOMB.)

Result: in 5 seconds I had the most incredible, spectacular and absurd suds lock I've ever had in my whole live. The Calypso started filling, then the first spin to saturate the load.... drum was full of suds to the top, spin aborted, emergency routine started.

Spraying water just made it worse. a suds cake like 10 inches ABOVE THE WASHER.

First capful of downy thrown in the washer to try to kill the suds.

Nothing worked, washer tryed to agitate... the level was so high that the drum lost its balance and started hitting the cabinet violently.

Cancel button pressed, suds falling everywhere, laundry room flooded with suds I felt like in one episode of I love Lucy.

Yikes!!!!

I have a front loader, but it is an older machine (non-HE Kenmore from late 90’s-early 2000’s), and I can run non-HE detergents in it without much issue.

With that said, I tried a test load today. It was pleasantly sudsy, without being obscene. Clothing came out smelling wonderful.
 
I use Non HE detergents in the Calypso and never had any issues before.

Btw, I usedthe scoop that comes with oxybleach, one scoop, that's a bit less than Tide scoop on line 2. and it was a REALLY full load.

That Omo thing would be great as fire suppression foam generator. Omo in Brazil was already super sudsy, but it never came up to 50% close to what this Omo is.

Just in case, today I bought two more bags of Omo and also a bag of Brilhante to try. Once you learn how to dose it (literally almost nothing) it's a great detergent.
 
 

 

Well I finally got to go to NWL. First off, virtually every store has closed down. Only one remained in Brooklyn (59th St.). A bit of a drive from me, but off I went. So I go in and boy, what a dump. They did not have the pail of Omo. Only the liquid in bottles. I bought 2 and a large bottle of imported Downy. To be honest, I didn't find their prices all that low. Maybe a dollar here and there for some things, but pretty much the same prices as anywhere else. I have never seen so many loud, sequined curtains in my life. I guess it's fashionable for the developing world crowd. When I regained my vision, I went to the foodstuffs area. That was much better. Got some Gullon brand cookies (from Spain),  some hearty Russian rye bread, Kosher mini-knishes and cheese blintzes. Also an enormous bottle of KC barbecue sauce that will probably last 6 years in the refrigerator. Would I go back? Unless I am in the immediate area, yes, otherwise no. Most, if not all this stuff is available online, granted more expensive, but then again I don't have to drive 40 minutes in bumper to bumper traffic.  Most businesses here are still closed. Where the hell are these cars coming from?

 

BTW, I used Omo today and it suds very little. I did find the scent pleasant.
