That is the first Frigidaire wash system with the big heater that came on to preheat the machine before it filled with water (or helped dry the soil on the dishes, depending on how you looked at it). Someone here has a similar model and reported that the dish washing results are not as good as what Frigidaire wanted you to believe from the ad text.
But it's good looking even though it bakes food soil on dishware. Maybe this is the first machine that proved you could cook salmon and other things in a dishwasher!!! Didn't even know a silver metallic looking front was available. Wonder what the rest of the kitchen looked like. Big bucks for a huge disappointment.

According to MY service lit, the heater did not come on until the machine was full of water. A 45 second fill on these machine generally equalled about a 1.5 gallon fill of water.
The 1958 machines did not heat until the chamber was full of water.
The 1959 did not do that either. That was the Z-line of dishwashers. Not sure which dishwashers you speak of. I have the Tech-Talks scanned to refute any claims to the contrary.

So.....
Did anyone from the board get this?? I'd have taken a run at this for sure, but it's just a wee bit far away - added complications that I just got four 'new' items and need to absorb them into the house AND the KDS54 dishwasher still hasn't arrived. Oh and I thought I heard Chris mumbling something in his sleep about getting me a dumpster for Christmas... LOL
But wow, this is a beauty and I hope someone was able to swoop in and save it.

I actually had everything set up and ready to go, but we have run into a few snags.
First of all, if any of you need to ship anything, ask for DeAnn at Ucrate. She has been most helpful. They are not cheap, but her customer service is great.
The snag is the plumber has told her the only way to remove the machine is to cut the legs. All sorts of things can go wrong when this happens. She is going to take pictures of it when it is removed and we will go from there.
The other problem is she is not sure she can actually put it in the crate and secure it for shipping. I will have to cross that bridge if the machine isn't ruined by the plumber.

After much nailbiting...
The dishwasher is crated and on its way.
A huge thanks to Robert for posting this. An even bigger thanks to the Laura who ended up doing a lot more than she probably anticipated to just "give the machine away". And finally, a shout-out to DeAnn at U-crate who was very nice to work with.
I will take some pictures when it arrives. I know they had to cut the frame to remove it from its current location as it had been locked into place by the installation of a tile floor. Fortunately Laura worked with me on this. After some back and forth emails of sketches on where to make cuts, I am pretty sure that I will still be able to install it without any major re-works.
The dishwasher is crated and on its way.

Yay, Mark, that is great news. I'm thrilled to hear it. I had a similar Frigidaire Dishwasher installed in my kitchen for about 10 years, I loved it. It sounds like a summer rain storm when running (minus the thunder of course).

Bakes food to the dishes? The humor is priceless. Then, is that lower right bottom knob a thermostat control with wash, bake and broil?
Fingerprints are not an issue - use Weiman SS cleaner and Polish ($4 at WalMart and many other places).
Our new black appliances installed this year by the new management company are more work of a PITA than any brushed SS surfaces I've cleaned.
Mark - congratulations….would like to see a video of it, sound and all.
