1971-72 ... a step down from a model in a recent pic-of-the-day (3/17/22).
2-speed, 2-cycle, 3-temp, only full fill, manual filter.
My mother bought an even lower model than that one when I was in high school for about a hundred bucks. It said 2 speed 4 cycle with normal, delicate and PP plus enzyme soak. No water level, no temp control. One water inlet hose so temp was set at the faucets. If you kept turning the timer to 3 minutes you could get a low level wash. Acrylic rusted badly. I sold it in the 80's for 25 bucks when she moved in my house.

This would be the 1970 400 series Kenmore washer model.
The catalog photo above is from a Fall-Winter 1971 issue. It's not in either of the 1970 catalogs or 1971 Spring-Summer at the source I referenced ... but Sears marketing people were always busy with sales and model introductions.

It’s in great shape with the original paperwork. Probably a one owner machine. Belt drives are always fun to bring downstairs. Only thing worse is getting it up the stairs.

Nice looking for b-o-l. I had a nicer model with water level and temp controls with that same agitator. It had zero turnover rate. I would stop it in the middle of the wash and pull the clothes in the bottom of the tub to the top. Otherwise the clothes on top did not clean.
Wow, even the turnover with my mom's Penta-Swirl agitator wasn't that pathetic.

I forgot to mention... a friend was junking a nicer kenmore with the ramped agitator. I took it and replaced my agitator with it and it worked beautifully after that!

Two of my aunts had Kenmore washers with that exact same straight vaned agitator, and both of them turned over full loads very well. One of the washers was a 500 model that was next up on the 1970 line from the one featured above.
