DE-806

This looks like a DE-806. No chrome strip on the front, but there is that chrome divider on the backsplash above the dial that looks like it seperates the 2 glass halves in front of the light.

Not lighted...

Don't think this is an 806 dryer, if you look close you'll see that that's the orange pilot light not the chrome divider. Maybe it's a 608 dryer, but not sure.

On closer inspection,

you might be right. Its a low res picture, but it looks like it might have the divider.

DE806.

If this is an 806 dryer I was thinking of getting it. Its not the 808 but what the hell close enough. A couple questions though, I would like to know a bit more about the 806 dryer. I've heard a about the halo from hell issues with these dryers but the seller says it has a new heater. Also can someone tell me what the settings are on this dryer. This would be our only dryer so I just want to make sure that it won't burn our house down.

Very nice ..... close to home here in Victoria!

I had one of these in my collection and gave it up when I moved 15 years ago...the good ole Halo-Heat models....bitch to repair, but robust!

Hi Shane,

The news travels fast….yes we tied the knot!! The wedding was really nice. The wedding was on July 7. Everything went well, I think we had about 210 (6 of them have received the Order of Canada - highest order one can receive in Canada, yet intimidating for us average guys).

The ceremony was really nice with perfect weather (light cool breeze off of the Pacific Ocean in Victoria. Our rings were carved by our friend (local native artist, he used the Salmon and Frog). We hired a harpist at the park and she played wonderfully. The Unitatrian minister was fantastic. For some reason our vows made everyone cried (I guess we have that effect on people).

We cooked the hot lunch (YES WE DID IT) at the hall (my Italian grandmother hommade cannelloni recipe, spar ribs, meatballs, 2 salads, homemade buns (baked that morning), carrot/pineapple cake). Our friends and guest were totally surprised the we pull it off without any problems (with lots of prayers, and friends - helped). Our wedding appeared it was well planned and lots of thought put in to it (however, we totally forgot to buy our shirts and ties, so went to Winners 40 minutes before the wedding hoping that we do not run in to anyone we know shopping for us). We closed the afternoon with some singing from the opera company. I could go on forever so I will stop.

This past weekend, our friends from Philadelphia tied the knot here in Victoria…this was a black tie event…very nice!!

I attempted to enhance the picture. What do you think is it the 606 or 806, its really hard to tell. I'm going to contact the seller and find out. If its a DE806 I think I'll have it. The blue console will clash a bit with the gold one on my series 2 A806 but its a lot better then what I have and I think they will look good together.

What's the difference internally between an 806 and an 808? I’ve been trying to get a straight answer on this for a while.

What so difficult about repairing an 806? With the exception of the heating element, everything else is staring you in the face when the rear panel is off.

Liam when u put the clothes in the dryer make sure there in no metal items in the pockets like coins or nails

metal gets past the front felt seal and shorts out the heater wires encircling the HOH cover

Tim at Hessions showed me burned and fused heater wires some he had to pry off the heater cover

Liam, this will probably be the easiest dryer to use that you will ever own. If it's in the same nice shape as your washer, it will be a great companion machine. I wouldn't worry much about the fact that the panel is in the blue instead of gold. Dryers tend to outlast washers so in many laundry rooms you'll find a washer that's newer than the dryer. Yours will be almost an exact match, which isn't usually the case. As long as the dryer's capacity is designed to hold what your washer can process, this looks like a good one to grab. Halo of Heat dryers can have their issues, they never scored as high in Consumer Reports as their center dial washer counterparts, but my gas model was the best dryer I ever owned.

I just got confirmation from the seller that the dryer is a DE306 so the search continues.
