Hopefully you're right. Many of these destroyers of history and quality have the mistaken idea that motors are full of copper, which they are not. They're full of iron, and a *little* bit of copper.

Copper In Washer and Dryer Motors ?
90% of the winding's in washer and dryer motors from around 1960- through now are aluminum with copper colored lacquer coating.
A lot of the three phase inverted high efficiency motors used in new HE washers and some DWs do have copper winding's again.
