I got the dryer today. it turned out to be a 110 volt model D5a, and it works good. the how dry I am still works to. now I will have to take it apart and clean and lube it, some time this winter.
I don't think it's the how dry I am model. With no knob on the right side, that means it's the lower model. Still always fun to see a matched set. If you or anyone is ever selling the matching washer, I know my friend Mark (Marks on here) would love to have it. He's had a dryer for years, his late partner helped him fix it and he'd love to have the mate.
I own one and so does Mark. I do know that not every one of that model has the xylophone... Mine with two knobs has the xylophone (a '53 model with rounded glass)... Mark's with one knob (a '54 model with pointed glass) has a buzzer. I was thinking the one knob instead of two indicated the height on the model scale... Perhaps instead its an indication of model year. Here are mine... my washer is a '54 and dryer is a '53...
