Hi everyone,
I'm hoping this is something simple and looking for some advice. I have a matching Fridgemore F/L and Dryer. They have the Gibson namebrand. My dryer died. The only thing working is the interior light. Do they have some sort of internal reset? Has this happened to anyone else? Suggestions are appreciated....
Thanks
Bill

My sister has the same set. The dryer broke down after she had it only one month. The control board needed to be replaced I believe. Its now been three years with no more problems.

Control boards/electronics - whose idea were these?

Even car electronics aren't perfect, but it does seem they
spent more time testing/hardening the electronics.

It used to be computer companies would design/manufacture
equipment similar to their commercial systems that were
"hardened/built" for military applications (don't know what
all, but vibration, temperature/voltage extremes, etc.) How
hard can it be to do the same for a simple 4" x 6" circuit
board and electronics?

Oh, right. I forgot planned obsolesence and cheap
manufacturing.

And - this will probably be of no help.

When I took apart the Kenmore dryer, tucked into the console
was a "Tech Sheet". It described a test mode functionality
based on various beeps, etc (that I personally do not think
was very well described) to isolate/identify problem areas.

Possibly your dryer has a test mode also (not saying it has
a tech sheet tucked into the console...)

It is also possible to obtain parts lists and manuals from the Electrolux FTP server. However you need to know the model number of the machine. Can you post the model number of your dryer?

There is a thermal fuse attached to the interior rear of the cabinet. It has 2 wires attached to it and is in series with the motor circuit. If the cabinet gets too hot because of poor venting or a failed thermostat it will open and not allow the motor to start.

Sorry to take so long getting the model number guys...It says
"Made for Gibson a White Consolidated Industries" Model# GSE746RF53

White Consolidated Industries? as in White Westinghouse???
Thanks
Bill
Coldspot66 I will check for that fuse as soon as a buddy comes over to help me move them out. Thanks for the info that is probably it because they are in a closet and the light works but nothing else.

Well the link did not work

Here it is:

ftp.electrolux-na.com/prodinfo_pdf/webster/131900600.pdf

The posting software modified what I had typed in.

A Happy Ending

I replaced the thermal fuse this morning and she took right off again. Thanks so much for your help guys. You saved me a service call.

Bill

The thermal fuse usually trips when the cabinet gets too hot. Check the vent hood and hose to make sure it is not clogged with lint and is as short and straight as possible. It might also trip if the operating thermo or safety thermo does not trip on heat rise.
