Fridgemore questions

I have recently seen the Kenmore version of this washer at sears.com on sale for less than 500 dollars. I realize there are some fridgemore owners out there that have had their machines for ten plus years. Others haven't been so lucky. I have a duet which is just over 4 years old. Just the other day I got an f11 code. I'm thinking it's because I washed an electric blanket and I just had started the machine and during the spray/lock I realized I needed to set the spin speed to low, I had forgotten, so I paused it, changed the spin speed then went outside for a minute and came back in and heard the beeping with fll, I paused, restarted and it finished the cycle. I don't know if I just confused the machine or if this is the start of this error code stuff again. I already went through this after owning the machine for one year and they replaced the ccu or mcu, can't remember which one and it's worked fine ever since until this. I dunno, I'm just really bummed with these sensitive electronics that render an otherwise great machine useless.

Do the Fridgemores have "less" that can go wrong with them? I realize the aluminum spider is a problem but I wonder if these machines bought in 1999 or 2000 are the same as the ones bought today? Luckily I have the extended warranty on my Duet that is good until october. It's almost 300 dollars if I want the warranty for another three years.

I have a 3.1 cubic foot Fridgemore front loader with the mechanical controls on it. It's only about 2 years old and the rear bearing is already getting "clunky". The machine isn't even used much. The Spider seems to be in good shape, but the bearing isn't long for this world I'm afraid. I'll use it till it croaks, then it's off to the crusher it goes. Sad too since I like the machine. You'd think they'd have used a QUALITY bearing in there...

A lot of times you can unplug the machine and wait a minute or so and that will reset it...in the case of my calypso, I had to leave it unlugged for about 48 hours...then all is fine...repairman told me that they build up a static charge in them and may take a while for it to correct...oddly enough he put on a seperate ground wire from the machine to the water pipe to help while unplugged...I keep it unplugged when not in use...5 years and no problems...go figure

I have the first generation Kenmore HE3t washer, going on 6 years now, so it is probably similar to your duet. The F11 error can occur if you pause the machine, change a setting, and restart it again too quickly. I had it happen a few times to me. Now I just wait a few seconds between pausing the cycle, making the change, and restarting it. I haven't had that error in years.

Whirlpool boards

are rather weak even here in EU. Have a Bauknecht (Whirlpool) dishwasher that often displayed F3 during the main wash and had to restart it again each time it happened. After 7/8 years this "disease" magically went off......

Touch wood, never had any problem with miele boards. Can change spin speed several times during the programme without pausing the machine, unless while the machine is spinning

Yeah, I did pause it rather quickly and change the setting. I remember my last error code incident after I had owned the machine for a tad over a year. It started with FDL, then F11. I remember when I would get the f11 codes I would unplug the machine for a while and when plugging it back in, it worked flawlessly for maybe 5 or 6 loads then it would start f11 again. I called service, they came and diagnosed it as it needed a new door lock control, they ordered it (it's now sitting in the attic in a box), that didn't work, he then ordered a control board. I know there are 2 control boards but I'm not sure which one he replaced. At any rate, it's been fine for over three years. No errors at all until the other day when I paused it during the initial spray/lock. Hopefully that is what happened. I hope so

You keep your machine unplugged when not in use? I have mine plugged into a surge protector. I wonder if I flip off the surge protector if that's equivalent to the machine actually being unplugged?

While I'm at it. Another question. Should my touch pad controls on my dishwasher be warm to the touch when the dishwasher is not in operation (not ran for a couple of days)? I noticed this the other day when I opened the machine. Not hot but slightly warm.

I have my whole electrical panel installed with a surge supressor...still didn't matter...a strip when turned off only disconnects the "hot" line...the neutral is still connected...I know the neutral and ground and cold water pipe are all connected together...but it just something about the machine being unplugged and a seperate ground wire connected to the pipe....my brother is an electrician and he says it makes no sense but it just works out that way...go figure

as for the warm touch panel....i had that on a electronic dryer...repair man said it wasn't a problem.....four months later had to replace the circuit board...now it's cool to the touch...and it's all in my head...yeah right!
