Does anyone have a spare agitator cap for a 1-18 washer. ? Or know where I might be able to get one ?

Here are some pics of them. Not sure what year they are. But the dryers drum is off balance and makes a scraping sound. hope it’s and easy fix.

That’s a great looking GM Frigidaire set you have there!
Beautiful Colonial Copper set!
These would have been from '77 or before as the shaded colors were replaced by the solid versions, such as Coffee, by '78.

Chris, I thought you were a die hard wringer washer user. But that set would be hard to turn your back on. Maybe the dryer needs new rollers and glides or maybe the drum got jostled around when it was being moved? Hope you sort it all out. If I worked in your area more, I would gladly take a look at it for you. Keep in touch, man. And Good luck with the set.

Wow, they look good, very well kept. Same set my boss at the restaurant found in the late 70's. His was the gold color.

I took the washer all apart today, well the top off and scrubbed the insides of it, years worth of build up and crud.. But its shiny and new again now..
The drier on the other hand, I had a appliance repair tech come, I told them on the phone it was a set from the 1970's and the dryer needs new rollers or something.. He took a look at it, then said nah you need to Junk it and get a new one, not worth fixing. I said ok thank you and he left after the $80 service call for nothing..
If anyone is around orlando I would love a drier fix day, Lunch is on me...

Possibly In Two or Three Weeks...
I can come and replace the 4 rollers for you. We already moved 1/2 the stuff last week, and we'll be moving all the rest of the house on the 3rd.
Rollers are all over eBay for around $10/each. Check the front and rear drum seals as well. Normally when people use those dryers with bad rollers, they wear out the seals.

How many do I need to find ? I will have to take it apart to see what the look like to get new ones for it, unless I can find a pic for it, I just printed the service manual for it..

I believe new rollers are still available, but I don't know the PN. One thing I about 1-18 driers, and mine is 42 years old and running well, do ALL repairs with the drier laying on its front. Do the work from the back and it will fall into place nicely and makes for quiet running. Put the entire back together BEFORE lifting it up. And don't listen to repairman who works son Y2k and forward machines.

So funny how these appliance repair folks take one look at our amazing vintage machines and say thanks but no thanks and send it to the crusher.

Yeah he didn’t even want to be bothered with it. He said not worth the time. Cheaper to keep buying new ones. The new ones are all plastic junk that don’t even use water. Lol.
Noisy FD 1-18 Dryer
Hi Chris, If you told the repair guy that came out the make and model # when scheduling the repair visit and he basically refused to repair he should not have charged you, I would call and ask for a refund and do a charge back if they won't voluntarily do one.
These dryers are kind of noisy I have almost never heard a really quiet one, that said they can be serviced, your dryer probably has 3 rear and 2 front rollers. You may also want to have a new belt on hand. you could also have a worn idler pulley and or a loose blower wheel and sometimes new front and rear felt seals are needed. Also check to make sure the plastic lint filter housing is not melted or badly distorted.
