Frigidaire Custom Imperial DXP "High Fashion" Dryer

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Hi Fashion Dryer

These were really neat machines, and 1967 was about the best Frigidaire ever was when it came to innovation.

I also love to find a High Fashion Pair and the High fashion range would be great as well, I do have a Frigidaire Food Life Preserver and this is one of the coolest refrigerators ever, it has EIGHT motors that make everything run.

The for sale dryer also looks like the rear panels are all missing, one of the neat things about this dryer was it had two speed tumbling, that is what the large load small load buttons, the small load button also reduces the heat input, these had two heating elements. Frigidaire also made TOL dryers that had the same features that were not the HF design.

This was for sale a few years ago on Craigslist.  A shame the back panels are missing.  The bottom one may possibly be sourced from a standard dryer, but the top one would be impossible to find.

Still, very cool that it's around!

I had one years ago,no,decades ago. It needed a new heating element but I never got to it. I forget what happened to it. There was a store in Timonium that had the pair on display and live. The washer,WXP, kept breaking during the demo. The clutch was plastic and broke being a costly repair. But,fun to "tune in" the agitation and/or spin speeds.Their Deep Action Agitator cap had a silver (aluminum) coverwith the Frigidaire emblem on it and, under the cabnet there was a fluorescent light that lit up above the glass top so you could watch.

OK, I'll ask again

So what years were these beautiful machines in production?

Even though the "high-fashion" style is a very nice visual gimmick, that shelf on top of the range with the warming light is not only a very practical design, the Brits have been making basic home "cookers" this way for decades.

I'm not surprised that the home laundry products didn't sell a lot, that configuration wouldn't even have worked for Samantha although I'm all over it.
