My $20 CL Frigidaire gas dryer FRQG7000LW0 that I bought a few years ago with a bad thermal limit switch and fixed has done this weird thing twice now in a couple of days.  Tony was doing laundry a couple days ago, I heard the vent when I pulled into the driveway so I knew he was drying a load of towels by the Suavitel yellow scent.  The dryer stopped and signaled it was finished.  I opened the door to find a load of damp cold towels.  I shut the door and powered it back on and stuck a mirror under the left front bottom edge to see if the igniter glowed and pressed start.  It glowed and fired up.  Finished as normal.  Now this evening when I got up I dewrinkled some things that had been left in the dryer since this morning and then put another load from the washer in to dry.  I usually just use the towels cycle and high heat.  It tumbled for a few minutes, stopped and signaled "I'm done".  I knew it wasn't so I opened the door and everything inside was cold.  Shut the door, powered it back on and restarted it and it worked as it should.  Think it might be the control board going out?  Can't be the vent because just last week I used my drill-powered dryer vent cleaner and snaked it out.  Airflow is not the problem.  I still have my faithful old GE if I need to swap it back into service...it NEVER failed to dry even on low heat!

FD Gas Dryer Acting Up

Hi Greg, How old is this dryer [ date is on the model tag ]

If it is having problems heating the gas valve coils may be weak and need changing.

You could also have a bad control board, do check the thermistor however before changing the board for proper resistance the tech sheet is inside the dryer probably next to the motor.

Hey John,

Jan 2012.  Whatever it is I'm sure it will become more frequent.  It's been an ok dryer for a total of $40 spent on it to fix it when I bought it used...not as good as the GE but still ok.  I only got it because the controls are on the front and I was able to build a pedestal for it to sit beside the Miele
