Hi all.. I'm have a problem with my Frigidaire Dryer Model # DCDL. I believe it is a '67 model. when the dryer first starts up it run very quiet and smooth but once it heats up its starts to vibrate and rumble the entire cabinet. I also need to know which way the bearing/bushing goes on the drum shaft. I have taken a couple of pictures of the bearing and each side is different. There is also what looks like a washer and also a spring washer. Do these go on before the bearing or after the bearing is in place but before the circlip that keeps the drum in place. Any info would be appreciated........Thanks a bunch! Mark

drum bearing/bushing

ok lets try this again...The bearing has a thin lip on one side (as shown in the picture) and the other side has a thicker lip. Which side goes in and which side goes out? Thanks guys!

The vibration problem is the two nylon glides at the top of the front port are worn down. Open the dryer door, push the rubber door gasket aside to reveal several small phillips screws. Remove the screws to remove the port and check the nylon glides at the top of the port. One always wears more than the other. They are usually riveted on but the rivets can be ground off and the glides reversed for many more years of use.

FilterFlo
Thanks for the info Filterflo, didn't think about doing that......I did inspect the slides and they don't look all that worn....but won't hurt to "reverse" them and see what happens.......hopefully it will work........Thanks again!

To check and make sure its the glides that are causing the vibration, put a little white grease on them and reinstall the port back in the dryer. If the vibration problem temporarily goes away, then its the glides that are bad. Ive fixed many many Frigidaire dryers of that design with bad glides than I care to remember. The back bearing does wear too of course from time to time, but a little light oil on it will usually correct it and make it useful for a long time. The glides on the other hand can look OK and still be worn to cause vibration.........
