Thanks to TrainGuy I have a rear drum seal. It is not the original but he says it will work. Now I need to know the best way to install it. Maybe Jimmy (FilterFlo) will come to the rescue. My dryer is a 1964 Frigidaire DCIF-64 no vent. The old fiberglass seal was glued onto the lip of the back panel. Some of the old seal still remains.I have some hi temp adhesive.
Do I have to remove the drum to put the new seal on? I have the drum pushed forward and you can see the full lip on the top of the dryer. I figured I could lean the dryer forward I would be able to get to the bottom of the drum. That is my problem. How do you get to the bottom of the back panel? Or would it be best to remove the drum and glue on the seal. That is my next question, which is the best way to remove the drum.
Also I have located the upper and lower seals for the front port. Should I replace those too? Filter Flo answered Saltysam's question about the front port glides. I have a new set of glides but mine look good. They still have the plastic ribs or grooves. The back of the upper seal is starting to bend or curl to the front of the dryer but I guess some hi temp adhesive will fix that. Should I replace the upper and lower seals? Is there a way to take the port assembly out?
