Frigidaire Gallery electric dryer problems

Tough one, where do I go here.

Dryer was purchased in Sept. 2009 and used until approx June 2009. I had somewhat outdated electrical service so I hooked up central air and the dryer sat unused until probably May 2016.

I used a gas dryer the entire time, in May last year I got an electrical upgrade and have been using both dryers since. My wife tells me today it's not heating. So I turn it up to high and hit heats like it's on medium.

Not sure what is wrong, at a loss what to do. It's technically 8 years old or so, used for maybe 2. Electric dryers are a dime a dozen on clearance I can probably get one for $200.

Do I repair this thing (what could be wrong, thermostat? Heating element?) Use it on high heating as medium until it dies?

Top is dented so I've got nothing as far as resale If I fix it.

Are both hot sides working? That is, are you sure the dryer is getting 240 V instead of 120 V?

Sometimes the circuit breaker needs to be reset to feed both sides.

Failing that, you will need to wait for people who know more than I do about that particular dryer to help you. It is a popular dryer though, so I figure they'll be replying soon.

Electric Dryer Problem

Are you sure you don't have a restricted vent problem ?, try running the dryer with the vent disconnected and see if it works.

 

Also why on earth would you want to use an electric dryer if you have natural gas, using an electric not only costs twice as much but also produces at least three times as much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere which is the min contributor to climate change.

 

If you want two dryers [ great idea, I have three gas dryers ] find a good used gas dryer instead.

It's really not about cost of the dryer, it's about my basement configuration. I'd basically have to run gas pipe and run an electrical line because the second dryer has to be on a different wall and some distance down due to the location of my stationary tub and that part of the basement is up against my breezeway so I have no where to vent it then. I already had a 240v line next to my electrical panel which was once used for a basement stove so hooking up a secondary dryer was far simpler to do with an electric.
