Unusal to see a stand-alone dryer ad, usually they are "after-thoughts" in washer ads, usually as a matched set, or a little blurb that says"matching dryer available"

Porcelain enamel on the DRYER?! What quality. Usually just baked enamel.

Nifty machine--but what's a "self-draining, vent-free" dryer that needs "no plumbing or venting"? Does that mean that these had a water supply (possibly) or were Filtratoresque?

means it's a condenser dryer.

Roto, this was one of the last years of the Filtrator dryer. I've used this model, in gas, at Steve 1-18s. A very accurate dryer with its electronic sensor.

Okay, so if, in the fifties, Frigidaire's Filtrators had the little pull-drawer, where did that go in this model? What did that drawer do, anyhow?

I thought I understood (roughly) how the Filtrator design was supposed to work, but I'm thinking I don't get the whole idea.

(Sorry, I don't mean to revisit something that I'm sure has been explained before--but I appreciate the information!)

The age of this ad

Your looking at a late 60's ad. Note miniskirt on mom-hemlines were a giveaway prior to the mini-most all woman followed hemline trends. After that, they went with what was most comfortable for them to be seen in-be it midi, maxi, or mini. Also I don't think the door handle on the dryer was like the previous models.

here's the skinny on the mini

David, a closer look would show that she's not wearing a mini-skirt at all,but a house apron over capri -like pants. I still think the ad is 1963 or 1964. But thanks for your post. You were right on about the trends.

DCIFK = Dryer Custom Imperial Filtrator and K is the model year, 1966.

The model pictured is an air-flow dryer, the Filtrator model worked on similar principle as the earlier Filtrators, cool air moved over an aluminum tube cartridge which caused the hot, moist air in the dryer to condense & cool inside the tubes where the moisture was drained into a water tray at the bottom of the dryer. "Self-Draining" is a little misleading as the dryer either needed to be drained into a floor drain or a special attachment for the washer drain hose would siphon the condenser water from the dryer when the washer drained. These later Filtrators were a little better at removing the moisture from the drum air because they had a circulation fan that kept the air moving through the filtrator unit and returning it to the drum through the heating element.

Hi! Everyone, the reason that particular Picture is of just a Dryer, is because it come out of my collection of Frigidaire Brochures. I donated it either last year of the year before, as well as with the one the day before, with the younger couple looking at the Frigidaire Portable/Compact Washer and Dryer in the Poppy Color Ad.

If they are still on the "POD" program, I do have several other's that I also donated all around the same time. I didn't have availability for Scanning at that time, nor am I able still at all now either, but I sent them to one of the Members {sorry, I don't remember which one} who in turn scanned my Kinko's Copies and sent them to by put onto the "POD" program, to share with everyone. Some of the other Pictures I donated are of the 1968 {approx} Frigidaire W/D with Storage Cabinets and a Control Tower Washer put out into a Barn, to wash Horse Blankets, when it was replaced with a newer Frigidaire Washer {not shown in the Ad} by the Woman in the Ad. I've also donated the Frigidaire 30" Electric Stove in Poppy Color, with the "Glass-Top" and the Electronic Touch Control's and Self-Clean Oven. I don't remember which other Pictures off hand that I also donated, but if I see them on the "POD" I will Post a Thread...

Thanks, the Fridgidaires with storage cabinets, that are on a balcony, above the living area? avocado green, That is one of my favorite POD that shows up. oh to find one of those and an architect.
