Spinner in the middle...

Retroman7/Travis:
The "spinner in the middle" is the tube sticking out, under the top rack, coming out towards to front of the machine. I believe that's the only "wash-arm/water sprayer" there is in this Frigidaire dishwasher. I don't think there is a wash-arm under the bottom rack?

I'm sure others who know more than me about these dishwashers will chime in and confirm if there is only one spin tube washing/water mechanism or not.

You're right, Christina - there was just the rotating tube between the upper and lower racks in one of these Frigidaire machines.  Putting items face-down in the lower rack is a big no-no!!

This is supposedly a 1959 model according to the lister. Look in photo #2, is that a metal "door" on the detergent dispenser? I thought the machine warm up via heating element was only applicable to the early years of this generation.

I had wondered that, too, Bob, but I have a 1959 magazine ad for the Imperial 'Spots-Away' Turbo-Spray dishwasher and it looks almost identical to the one in this listing.  I think this may have been the last year for a Frigidaire dishwasher with a timer in the lower panel and a push-button starter.  The Canadian 58 (most likely a 57 carried over) still had the chrome trim on the top edge of the door but by 59 this was gone.

Firsts and lasts

1959 was the first year for the Custom Imperial and Deluxe models, up till then there was only one basic model. Custom Imperial included the detergent and Spots Away dispensers (resulting in a double wash). It was the last year for the timer on the bottom and the latching door, which re-appeared with the 1965 models. Racking design, other than the design of the silverware basket, remained fairly consistent through the 1964 model year.
