Am I correct that by the type of agitator shown on the control panel that this model Frigidaire is of conventional design and from after the 1-18 with the Jet-action agitator?

The sale of Frigidaire by General Motors to White Consolidated Industries around 1979-80 touches a raw nerve with virtually everyone at this site. While the vitriol eased slightly after Electrolux acquired the brand, many feel post-GM Frigidaires are Fraudgidaires.

Full disclosure: My front-load washer and dryer, electric range, two refrigerators and an upright freezer are all Electrolux-made Frigidaires, but I realize they are Frigidaire in name only.

I think I got a slight glimmer of this from time to time. LOL

I can't speak about the "real" Frigidaire, but I can certainly say that I've been less than impressed by the WCI Frigidaire.

Although being fair, even if GM had kept Frigidaire, it seems likely that there would have been cheapening... We might have the same debates with Frigidaire that we have with Whirlpool Belt Drive vs. Direct Drive, and discussions of why couldn't they have left a good thing alone?

"Raw Nerve", indeed.  Our fearless Webmaster   Robert posted of his total disbelief when he encountered his first WCI Frigidaire. -A
