Talked to Mikey from Maine and he said this couldn't happen, but...
Having a problem with a banging noise on the Frigidaire GTR1670ASO front loader when it wrings out clothing. It only does it once or twice during the cycle. Mikey thought it was an unbalanced load, but it's been consistent over the last two weeks.
I am able to reach in and push the left side of the drum back and forth where it will easily hit the back of the cabinet. Pushing on the right side does not do this, it seems perfectly attached. When the load is wringing out, an inordinate amount of torque is happening at the door seal. Weeks before this happened I would get a rattling noise when it was somewhere in the midrange RPMs when ramping up to speed for the final spin, and when it crossed that frequency on the way down from final spin. I always use the 1,000 RPM speed.
Figuring it's a broken or detached suspension component, how do I open the top panel for a look-see? It's apparently not attached like a typical top-loader would be.
Since I'm running out of towels (but thankfully not underwear), it's time to get it fixed. Any help on what it might be and how to get to it will be greatly appreciated.
