My little consumer mini review of Frigidaire dishwashers
I'll add to this. My apartment had a 10 year old BOL Frigidaire. Parts are still common for these, and it was very easy for me to clean up and fix. It held up very well. However, it just would not do a very good job. Well, the apartment community has a policy that allows residents to have their own appliances, but dishwashers have to be newer for compatibility with their wiring and plumbing. So, I replaced the BOL Frigidaire with a near entry level EnergyStar compliant Whirlpool which has the basic Durawash system. It's a non-tall tub with a mechanical timer, among the last of the current models that haven't gone electronic.
So here's the verdict: My Whirlpool, even though it's not one of the best and most top-rated dishwashers out there, will easily out clean the 10 year old Frigidaire. It will also do the job twice as fast. Keep in mind that I cleaned that WCI Frigidaire inside and out, even reaming the plumbing and internal guts. It still could not keep up with my modern, under-powered Energy Star Whirlpool! OK, well, I guess Whirlpool can still make a decent dishwasher. I'll admit, I'm not disappointed at all with this very basic machine.
Summary: WCI and Electrolux Frigidaires are worth less than their scrap value, if their plastic tubs have any value at all. If it's not a GM, then don't get stuck with it!
