Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Fantastik and Sani-Flush are still made. I use Sani-Flush (with "blue bubbling action") myself. Tab is still produced but is not available in all areas; it's sweetened with a combination of saccharin and aspartame. I recently found out that Purex is using the Sta-Puf name. Their softener is called Purex Sta-Puf, though it doesn't resemble the original product.

Finish dishwasher detergent

Finish is still a major brand name in the UK/Ireland for dishwasher detergent.

It's a Reckitt Benckiser Product

Comes as:
Finish 4in1 Powerball tabs with Protector Action (prevents glass dulling)
Finish 3in1 Powerball tabs (detergent/rinse aid/water softening)

(the two above products have "salt action" which means in-built water softeners... totally unnecessary in euro dishwashers that have a built-in softener that works on the incomming water throughout the cycle.. basically for those of us who are too lazy to re-fill the salt container once a month!)

Finish 2in1 Powerball tabs (detergent/rinse aid)
Finish PowerPowder (regular or lemon fresh) with stain soakers.
Finish LiquidGel (Regular or lemon fresh) for delicate china.

Other products:
Finish PowerBoost powder (used in conjunction with normal detergent you put a scoop on the dishwasher door and it disolves really heavy grime on pots and pans more effectively using powerful enzymes)

Finish dishwasher cleaner:
Run your dishwasher empty with this little bottle upsidedown in the cuttlery basket or top shelf. A wax plug in the lid melts when the machine reaches temprature releaseing the liquid into the wash. It removes grease and lime deposits from the interior of the machine and the pump, filters, pipes and spray arm nozzles and leaves the machine smelling very nice.

FINISH 2in1 Dishwasher Freshener
(clip into the dishwasher to make it smell like lemons, mint or oranges at all times)

FINISH Protector
(clip into the dishwasher to protect glasses from being pitted and scratched)

FINISH Rinse Aid (regular or lemon fresh)

Prevents water spots and streaking for a brilliant shine!

FINISH Special Salt

For replenishing the ion exchange water softener in european dishwashers.

So the Finish brand's still alive and well!!

My favourite dishwasher powder was

Calgonite!

Probably because Aunt Irene (she of the Youngstown Kitchens dishwasher up the stret) used Calgonite.

After it was discontinued, we went to Cascade.

I like the dishwasher gels, especially Cascade Complete, but they seem more expensive per use.

Tab Lives!

Speaking as the #1 Tab fan, I can state that Tab lives! It's not easy to get--I have to drive up to PA to get it usually--but it's worth the trip. Tastes MUCH better than diet Coke.

In a pinch, Pepsi One and the new Diet Coke with Splenda are middlin'-to-piddlin' substitutes. Certainly the best of a poor round of choices.

You can still get Lavoris. In fact, they now have a peppermint flavor. Don't quote me, but I think the name is now owned by the company that re-introduced Breck shampoo a couple of years ago. They buy up older brand names and reintroduce them.

Oh, in addition to Choo Choo/Chinese Cherry, Jolly Olly Orange started out as Injun Orange.

veg who can't remember his middle name, but has no trouble whatsoever remembering this kind of crapola.

Yes tab is still around

But the formula last time I saw it had saccharin. Possibly now has nutrasweet, maybe splenda's next. It's hard to come by, was a coca-cola product and I don't know how much cc competes with itself. Seldom ever see Mr. Pibb, some parts of the country have it still.

BTW-this company that reintroduced Breck shampoo specializes in bringing back old products. Maybe they could bring back GM Frigidaire! I know-FAT CHANCE!

Oh, yes. The Vermont Country Store has EVERYTHING.

For a price.

I've noticed that with a little hunting, you can find anything they have elsewhere at half the cost. Still, we've been steady customers since before I was born, so the Orton family will continue getting my bucks.

I always remember TAB having saccharin, never cyclamates. Don't know if it did or if I just don't remember. I have some commercials for TAB that says is has a little sugar for taste. That's a new one on me! The current formula has both saccharin and aspartame in it. Wish they'd stick to straight saccharine. Or switch over to Splenda.

TAB

is still made, usually have to go to a supermarket to get it. It has saccahrin, for those people who can't have aspartame due to a rare medical condition. With the new sweetners like Ace-K and Splenda, there may no longer be a reason to keep it around.

TAB

started out with cyclamates. Came in a glass bottle with a fine quilting pattern, with little smooth areas that had stars on them. Was the first diet drink I remember other than Diet Rite Cola. I think Tab was introduced in 1965.
