From the 40's

This was a little porta washer that My Aunt Josie used in the 40's. Still works and it is mint! I have never seen one of these before, this was still in the box! The base pivots back and forth which rotates the tub that sits on it.

Sears, and many others made various sorts of small table top washing machines such as the one shown. Some were designed for laundering danties and perhaps the odd shirt or two, others could handle a small load such as perhaps two shirts or a bunch of nappies. Often advertised as "camp" washing machines as they could be taken along when on vacation to use in a camper or washing out a few things.
