We have this little beauty just arrived today! This was made by Waste King.
For many years this would be Waste King's main disposer model(souped up only with a larger HP motor and a sound shell)
This 1958 Frigidaire has a 1/4 hp motor.

showing the two models available. This is basically the same as the deluxe model, just minus the sound shell.

and of course the teeth

SS disk with swivel hammers, and a cast, machined ring. 1/4 hp might seem kinda wimpy, but this thing was probably a pretty good disposer in its day.

Yay Jeff!

Jeff that '58 Frigidaire disposer is totally COOL!!! I'm surprised that it was orange as early as 1958! I love the one you gave me last January at Fred's house, I have it proudly displayed in my appliance library...

Where on earth did you find it?

That is awesome, Jeff! I remember there was a housing subdivision in Beacon Hill, a suburb of Montreal that featured all-Frigidaire kitchens and they all had this model in them. What a great find - enjoy it!!

found it on ebay...

Waste King made this disposal for Frigidaire and for Monkey Wards as well. Probably about 1970 neighbors across the street from us replaced their original Hotpoint Disposal with the Wards version of this model. I remember it being very quiet, until that is they cut the splash guard off because the could not remove it.
Just another little piece of childhood for me!

All I can say is WOW! The only vintage disposer I ever got close to was in the house where I grew up - there was a 1956 Youngstown Kitchens one in the sink. It was already FUBAR when we moved in to the house in 1970 and it was eventually replaced with a Kenmore in about 1972. Again, congrats!

Youngstown Kitchens

Would have been made by American Standard I think, they also made Kenmores up until about 1966, when ISE took over.

I realized at some point today that disposals like the Frigidaire are still made, only now they are called Commercial Waste King!

'58 manual

here is the cover of the '58's manual showing that same disposer...that must have been the TOL model

wow jeff!

where did you find the disposer? I would love to get my hands on a vintage GM Frigidaire disposer like yours.

Have lots of fun grinding the potato peels!
