Been here since 9 am waiting for a dryer delivery from Loews.

They show up with the Maytag Performa dryer(NIB) for my ex......another story....with no bolts to connect the power cord, and inside the dryer is only the warranty card(no instruction manual). The driver calls the receiving department and found the bolts and instruction manual in a dryer in the store. Told me they would be back around 12 to reinstall. It is now 1 pm and they have not showed up yet!

Made a call to the store and was told that they will be back around 2 pm. So here I wait for delivery till 2 pm. Hopefully, it will be a done deal at that point.

Anyway, the old dryer is a BOL White Westinghouse that seemed to be getting unusually hot(will post pics when I get back home). The Westinghouse had no automatic cycles...only timed regular and permanent press along with air fluff.

I assume that the previous owner used lots of dryer sheets since the inside smelled of them, and of some burned plastic.

Guess it is better to be safe than sorry.

No bolts for the power cord? You mean that they had been removed from or never put in the terminal block under the access panel in the back of the machine? I have never heard of that and it was in the box??? What the hell kind of quality control let the dryer leave the plant like that? Poor to none, I know. You are more patient than I. I would not have accepted delivery, ex or no. That's a bad sign about this dryer. Do you have any confidence in this dryer?

I feel your pain

I had a similar experience last spring with Home(o) Depot. I wanted new floors in my kitchen and upstairs bathroom, I chose $32 a sq yard Armstrong Solarian, the guy came and measured, so the order was placed and I paid close to $1600 for everything.
A week or so later a lady called to schedule installation for me, and it turned out this was the same company that had installed my LR/DR carpeting a year before.
We scheduled installation for 9am on a Saturday.
The Saturday arrived and 9am came and went, so did 10 and 11. I called Home Depot twice and they told me they'd check. Someone from the flooring installer place called at noon and said they would be out by 1pm.
Finally at 3:30 pm someone named Serge showed up to install the floors.
4 hours later he was done, and it it hadn't been for he was kinda cute, the day would have been a total loss!
The biggest irritants were that I wasted a whole Saturday waiting for this guy, and then when he was done, he refused to re-install the toilet, telling me I had to call Home Depot to schedule them to come out.
So I was supposed to leave the toilet out in the hall til Home Depot could come out?
I taught myself to install a toilet that night.
I'm now about to re-carpet my two upstairs bedrooms, and I am NOT going to Home Depot thats for sure!

Tom

It is my understanding that the bolts for the power cord should have been inside the dryer with the insturucion manual.
Yes, it came right out of the Maytag factory carton(someone must have been asleep that day!)

Flooring, hmmmm.....

I just wanted to relate that I recently recarpeted two rooms upstairs and had an excellent experience with a company in my town called Abbey Floors and Carpets, and I understand they are a nationwide chain.

From what I hear, Home Depot is becoming a horror show when it comes to delivery and installation....

Gary, try your best to remain calm.

If this is impossible, I'll call in the airstrike for you, lol!

carpeting...

Here in Chicago we have Empire(800-588-2300!) as well as Olson Rug, and a local chain called Luna. I was thinking of trying Luna first, namely because they are currently offering a buy 1 get 1 free with rooms of carpet.
Of course this will be like everything else, I'll see so many samples it will be sensory overload and take me a while to make up my mind!

LOL Pete!

I seldom have my TV on, and when it is I am usually watching the Food Network.

Luna carpet has a catchy song too, I hear it on the radio now and again: 773-202--Luuuunnnnaaaa!

Yeah like tyou can get the idea from me typing it!

Yes, Empire, and US Window Factory..."OHMIGAWD, what a NIGHT-MARE!!"

And those hideous Ovaltine children.....
