FS: the weirdest appliance to collect ever?

Can't use the little used 1962 GE garbage disposer that came with the complete 1962 kitchen we're buying up in the Adirondacks... we have septic! It's a batch feed type (twist the drain cup to activate), and the camp was only used a few weeks a year for the 50 yrs since the kitchen was installed. Would anyone want this thing, I'd like to see it saved? I will get pics asap, it may be until I can go up in 3 weeks. I assume it is GE since it's an all GE kitchen including the cabinets. If anyone has interest let me know here and will get more info for you.

Just curious, why not have a disposer with a septic system? We had a house for 4.5 years with both and never ran into a problem, in fact to keep the tank healthy we used to use the disposer to feed it bits of raw meat (recommended by a friend and works like magic btw).

Disposer with septic

We have had a disposer for 37 years and we have a septic tank. Never caused an issue. We have the tank pumped every 2 years.

its some stupid new rule of septics and disposers......to gain our CO we had to remove it....I never seen a problem with them either, in fact, they make one with an enzyme injector just for septic tanks, but thats still not good enough for them.......

I have one in the city house with city sewer, I dare them to make me pull that one out.....over my dead body!

I'd be lost without a disposer. If it can handle grinding it up and going down the drain which is about 90% the case. The sink gets fed not the trashcan. I don't like food waste to sit in the trash can. Only time I will do that is when I'm getting ready to take the trash out to the dumpster and get rid of it. I would think the decomposing food in a septic system would assist in breaking down stuff in the septic tank and be better as opposed to sitting around rotting (oh, the sweet fragrant aroma....EWWW YUCK) and attracting god knows what critters.

We put all the food

into the compost anyway, so it's a moot point, we're big organic gardeners, doing it almost 40 years. We always had a DisposAll when growing up in Towson (Baltimore) MD but don't really miss it anymore.

OK Phil, will get more info asap, I asked them for more pics. The D/W and range are both TOL so am hopeful this is too. At least we won't have to worry about shipping!
