I was wondering that as well. Besides, what is this filter? It's a single layer of this nylon or whatever material and than a thin foam pad. Compare that to regular dryers with two layers of filters and a thick, double-layered foam pad.

The filtration in heatpump dryers has changed a lot.
The standard used to be the filter, filter, double foam.
By now, mamy dryers just use 2 nylon filters behind each other.
The more filters the more airflow is impeded, but the "cleaner" the heat exchanger stays.
Miele takes that all the way on their large commercial heat pump dryers with the CleanStream design.
Why they haven't used the full pressure mains water they have to flush the condenser periodically is a good question though.
Adds a valve and a bit of electronics, but would certainly go towards longevity.

The filter in this machine seems to be very well designed. There’s always gonna be a tiny bit of dust that gets around or through a filter. The good news is the condenser/evaporator is very easy to clean on this machine probably after several hundred loads it may need some touchup.
It would be ridiculous to put a pressurized washing system to clean this filter. It would be very costly and problem prone and probably not that effective.
Comparing this heat pump drying system to the compact whirlpool, heat pump dryers we picked up recently from France. For example, this GE is a far better filter system and it’s far easier to reach the coil behind it if it does need occasional cleaning.

Ah yes, two nylon filters and that's it. Ideally, there's not even a gasket around the filter.

Alexander, that LG Signature combo you found above, is about 5 years old and I believe it's been discontinued.
Phil, the as-yet-to-be-announced LG combo is essentially my current LG washer with a HP dryer added. It has an onboard heater, steam, and true sanitizing wash temps.
The LUWM101HWA is the 24" model is the Signature one that has been around for a while. The one in the YouTube Short is a 27" model has only been announced in September 2023 here in Berlin.
Thank you Alexander. I love the older one, it has a hygenic rinse option that heats the rinse water to 40C. Got me all excited!!!

Yes, there's still the Condenser Care cycle. The drum looks very different.

I'm not going to lie, that GE comb appears relatively simple and well engineered for the asking price. These could catch on with good success.
