This is a well done video, it’s nice to see the thorough washing action clothing go through in a front load washer. It really demonstrates very well. How clothing gets much better cleaned than in a top load washer that’s for sure. It also shows why recirculated water during wash would not be a good idea as you’re trying to wash soil and grit out of clothing and you don’t want to pump it back on the clothing with the small amount of water being used.
There was some discussion earlier about whether this machine has a water heater or not, it does have a water heater.
Also, impressive. How little electricity the motor is using, usually less than a quarter of the power of an older top load washer.
We picked up one of these machines two weeks ago but have been so busy at work I have not had time to try it out yet, might do it today.
The only thing I don’t like about the design of it is it does have a slightly slanted tub. It will be interesting to see if it will tangle loads of long sleeve shirts. I will report back after using it a while.
Our distributor tells us there’s heavy demand for this product they’re selling very well and like all new appliance designs it will take time for the sales to really ramp up as people plan their laundries, etc.
It will be interesting to see who the next manufacturer is that comes out with full sized heat pump combination. Washer dryer. I am guessing Samsung or LG, hopefully whirlpool will get there butt in gear and come out with one as well, I would not look to Speed Queen to do one as they tend to stick to more serious commercial designs.

The air flow during the dry cycle ! WOW!!!
I think one of the key factors in reducing the dry time outside of the heatpump is the high velocity of the air flow during the dry cycle. The engineers and designers should get a nobel peace prize for this LOL. I hope they come out with a 220 volt version with an onboard water heater and to further shorten dry time. Can you imagine if they got it down to 1 hour:15 min to 1 hour:30 min ? They would have another huge hit. And maybe release a lower capacity compact version in 110volt.

Bob, do you mean the WM6998HBA? I just discovered it on applianceconnection's website along with a 7.8 cubic foot heat-pump dryer (same capacity as the Samsung model).
I saw the combo a few days ago browsing. The manual is online already. Drying selection is handled a little weirdly since it's done via the center screen and not a button.
Haven't seen the seperate HP dryer yet, but given they had the WashTower with the HP dryer already, that would only make sense.

The dryer is the DLHC5502__ with Dual Inverter Heat Pump. No pictures yet but likely the same design as the current laundry machines.

Energy star says this dryer rated at 266 KWH/year. My LG dryer has a rating of 607 KWH/year.
Given current electrical rates, the HP dryer would be 43% of the cost of the electric version.

Hi Alexander, thanks for posting the videos, but that first video is just ridiculous,. Gluing the secondary filter to the back of the primary filter won’t do a thing the primary filter is completely sealed to the frame of the filter assembly, nothing is getting past the edge of the primary filter, where he’s adding tape or glue, that’s absolutely stupid.
The guy doing the demonstration is a total idiot. I would not trust him to change a lightbulb in my house, because he has no common sense. This is the problem with the Internet people like this can get on there and make ridiculous statements and suggest modifications I’m sure GE is having a cow over this one. They’re probably gonna have to put a warning in the instructions not to do this to the dryer filter.
The reason lint is getting on the blue coil behind the filter is because as you pull the filter in and out little bits of lint, flake off from the edges and that gets pulled in, the evaporator coil will require cleaning eventually in a machine like this. The little bit of lint shown on that blue coil will not affect the drying time, the coil will have to be more than 50% blocked before you notice any performance related problem with this machine.
Far more good can be done at keeping the evaporator coil clean by not cleaning the filter every time I would just open the filter a little bit and peek at it if there’s not a lot of lint on it dry another couple loads, when you disturb the filter that’s when the link gets past it.

I have a vacuum attachment in my laundry room with the vacuum I keep in there that's designed to get in hard to reach areas of the dryer.(sort of like a lint lizard. It's long and sort of flat and I got it probably 15 yrs ago...I'm thinking it would fit right in the dryer filter housing of this but I'm not sure if it would be able to suck any lint off the sides of the condenser coil that may have gotten on there.
Is he actually suggesting that you glue the secondary filter in place? Once that cage is sealed shut with silicone, I can’t see how you get it out for cleaning?
