Does anyone know if and when Westinghouse offered different colors for there machines? I was just wondering if the 1955 twins would have been available in colors? I heard from a friend that he had once seen a dryer in blue. Any help would be great.

Confection colors

Davy, Westinghouse introduced colors for their appliance line in late 1954. Offered in addition to white were yellow, pink, aqua and gray. Each color had a descriptive name - I remember Frosting Pink, but not sure of the others. Will have to do further research on this.

Mint Green

This is my dream laundry pair. (Though I prefer it in white.) I have seen it in gray, white, and green. Attached is a green pair; not sure of the exact year though.

Actually now that I think about it, the initial color introduction for the '55 models were called their "Holiday Colors" and consisted of Sunshine Yellow and Cascade Aqua. Soon after they were called "Confection Colors" and the names were Sugar White, Lemon Yellow, Mint Aqua, Frosting Pink and Nougat Gray. So far as I know, they just changed the names of the yellow and aqua, not the actual finish color.

The aqua kitchen pictured above looks to be from '56. Refer to thread #31980 reply #31 for another pic of this set.

Looks almost like 1956 Plymouth color schemes

"The 1956 Belvedere interiors came in four “fashion-matched" colors, including two-tone green, two-tone blue, brown with
cream, or black and rose."

"Nougat Gray Confection"

That link to the 56' Plymouth was neat. I had an uncle with one of those. That was a very popular year for Chrysler Corp.  You would see lots of those cars around.  What I remember most was how smooth the dashboard looked compared to other brands out there.
Another thing I remembered was that instead of having a "L" push button on the transmission selector set, he had "1" & "2" buttons.  I never did see any other models like that. All of the other ones I saw had the "L" gear.

not 100% sure what year this baby is but she is pink and i really like this tone of pink. much softer that the pink tag dryer i once had

well.............

I like the aqua and pink but I don't know how long I could live with it before it started to get old. The aqua kitchen looks like the saturation of the colors as been ramped up a little. I'd be interested to see what shade of yellow these machines came in.

I actually liked their light green. I think later on they called it seafoam green, the house across the street from us had a westy kitchen that color in 1960.

christfr, that machine is gorgeous, had no idea Westy Fronts came with such a tricked out control panel. Over the top cool.

Mickeyd that was their TOL machine for 1957 or 1958. In fact that's the matching dryer. You should hsee the washer. I berlieve Mr. Jetcone has a matched set.

Westinghouse color nomenclature

A very kind AW member sent me a PDF brochure on GE pull-out dishwashers that had a bonus Westinghouse pull-out dishwasher brochure attached to the end of the document with a diagram of Westinghouse colors from the late fifties (the ham-handed inserted colors are my invention, the names of the colors are what was in question):
